This doesn't mean that I want a sex scene or anything like that to be shown on the screen; in fact I'm strongly in favor of Hitchcock's method: fade to black and let people imagine what has happened.
I'm inclined to agree on this one. I'd rather have something left to the imagination, as the cliche goes...my personal preference...

Lula 3D is a pornographic adventure for "Gentlemens Pleasure". It has all the perceived ingredients needed to satisfy the average red-blooded males sexual tastes.

It's also about as erotic as a brick. It's titillating to the point of parody, though. I'm not saying that people won't be turned on by it, but it's no more than a flimsy satisfaction of the basest sexual gratification (Naked, Pubic Area! Nipples, LESBIANS!, Moans, Groans, etc...) that most likely arouse because of their relation to real-world equivalents.

I'm also sure that average male gamers would find far more to arouse them if the latest Tomb Raider inserted a high-resolution, full-frontal nudity shower scene for Lara Croft/Alyx/Bloodrayne, etc

A person will develop a crush, or lust after, characters in film/games/books that usually aren't involved in overt sexual situations. Hence male fans of Agent Scully, Princess Leia, or indeed, Lara Croft.

To say the sex scenes are out of place in games doesn't make a person prudish, or closed to such things. Just wary of the artistic merit in doing so.

Sex being part of everyday life has little to do with it. The Sims do everything except engage in apparent sexual actives, beyond a jokey graphical extension of the 'Fade to Black' technique.

The 'essential to the plot' argument is far too nebulous to justify sex scenes, as the need to tell the player, rather than show, is only required to advance the story.

I don't favour one way over the other; certainly not in any moral way. Like I said, I'm just wary of the need to justify including such scenes.

I'm against erotica in adventure games. Maybe I'm just a prude, but I don't enjoy it. If there's going to be sex, it should be implied, not shown, like in GK1, and it should advance the story in some way. Just my 2 cents.

As a person who enjoys erotica I have to agree Adventurous One. There are plenty of other options for people who want erotica in PC games other than messing with mainstream adverture game.

I find the games where they show them "getting started" but don't show the actual action the most annoying. It's better to either imply what happens. Like, you get what they are going to do, but they don't actual show it. But if they first show them get undressed and such, they should show all of it. Else it's just a teaser

Hehe, glad you asked.
Yes, it contains. Ummm, let me remember. I think there are
Spoiler:
a 3 sex scenes (Sam & Tyler, Lucas & his ex girlfriend, Lucas & Kate), 1 in the shower naked scene (Kate) and Sam's dance (Stripptease) in bonus section.

Althrough, they aren't so big deal. I don't see from what they have to save the Americans. I mean, there are lot of sex scenes in movies, ffs they all watch real porn and this is a crime? Too bad for them, and lucky for us Europeans.

I think asking whether adventure games should contain erotic elements is like asking whether they should contain guns. Or monkeys (yes, yes, a thousand times yes!). Or whether the main character should be male or female. There's no correct answer. If it's the right thing for the game, go ahead. Otherwise, please don't.

I'm totally fine with sex scenes in games, wether or not it's Jane Jensen 50's style "cut away from sex" or the whole enchilada in Fahrenheit.

I haven't played Phantasmagoria, so I don't know at what level it was, but when I say I would like to see sex in games, I'm primarily thinking animated games, because I don't take it that seriously, since it's not real people.

Then again, I don't mind at all watching sex scenes in movies, as long as they're not pornographic.

I just the mature themes adds something to the overall game, I remember the first time I played GK3, where it came totally unexpected and I loved what it added to the story. And hey I wouldn't have minded getting a bit more of a peak at the act itself, hehe, I mean if anyone could do it well, it might very well be Jane Jensen.

But as many has said before me, it should have a certain purpose, and of course only feature in certain kinds of adventure games, I mean I don't need to see Guybrush and Elaine going for a ride in the shaggin-waggon.

They could have spiced up Broken Sword a bit though, could'a lived with that...

I have absolutely no problem with sex in games, so long as it's not gratuitous. IF the story fairly demands that a pair of protagonists has a scene together, or perhaps a single character indulges in some sexual release, owing to some palpable sexual build up between protagonists, then I'm satisfied. It doesn't need to be there, and it can be merely implied rather than displayed, but I don't mind either way. I've often suspected that many of the protagonists whom I've enjoyed playing with *ahem* in games have probably had at least one unseen sexual experience of some kind during the story. It seems a very natural conclusion to certain events and encounters that usually resolve poorly without the added dimension of sexuality.

Sensual and sexual content can be quite exciting. However, if it's handled badly and has almost no real relation to the story proper, it will often seem cheap and crass. I'd say, the barometer for these things is, if it wouldn't happen in a non-pornographic book or movie like it's happening in the game, it doesn't belong there.

I'm all for sex in games, but the problem is they cant even make a kiss look real enough. All sex or kissy scenes in games look awkward sorry to say. Unless someone has a good example of sex looking good in a game.

One rule though, sex in games should be tasteful, not Lula 3D kind of stuff. Then again I woulden't want to see characters like April Ryan or Lara Croft have sex because I feel too much respect for them and I woulden't want to see them in any kind of sexual scene. LSL seemed to do a good job at making sex funny.
