Default Ron Gilbert's New Double Fine Game

I don't know if this is in any way related to the Double Fine Adventure (I don't think it is), but it looks like Ron Gilbert has a separate game in the works:

Yep, Ron Gilbert posted concept art on this game ages ago: http://grumpygamer.com/5694081

I actually think the Kickstarter project was meant to be a little promo/PR stunt for this game considering the Kickstarter game was originally intended to be very very short.

Didn't I see that woman with the glasses in the concept art for the Kickstarter project?

nope you saw it for the concept art from ron gilberts blog. Schafer responded around the time of the kickstarter (in tweet i believe) to a question of whether that art was for the adventure game, and he said no it is somthing different (and likely not an adventure game). Its definitely confirmed not to be "the" double fine adventure. What it is exactly.. we'l have to wait and see..

Gilbert has said that this game is based on an idea he had before Maniac Mansion. He has also stated that it's a departure from the Deathspank games he recently made and something the adventure game fans will like. I think that makes it more likely to actually be some kind of adventure game.

would be more than a bit silly if they already had an adventure game funded and in the works before the kickstarter for "we couldnt get an adventure game funded" even started
The insinuation is a bunch of playable characters, so its probably very action-y with some adventure flavor.

Probably very action-y? Could be, but I'm more leaning on the adventure path.

The fact that Double Fine has registered the name Cave which is rather reminiscent of Colossal Cave Adventure which is regarded as the first adventure game ever made and probably what was on Gilberts mind in the beginning of his career when the idea to this game was first born.

Whatever it is, I already like the art direction.

i'm also hoping for a strong adventure influence if not a typical ag. the art is made in the shape of a jigsaw puzzle, so i'm smelling puzzles out there

Theyr really drawing out the suspense on this one geez..
Maybe its because they dont plan on releasing it until october (looks like it could be a halloween-ish game.)
With so many playable characters im also getting quite the multi-player vibe.
