I thought I posted a message in this thread, but can't seem to find it.

Anyway, many players of BFG games have experienced the problem of a game freezing. And, despite re-installs and restarts, the game opens at the freeze point, and you can't move on.

There is a solution, as provided to me by BFG, that I will be happy to share via PM. It does not require registry edits as I originally suspected. But it is a bit long. And thus more a topic in the technical section than here.
