Default Creator of Shadowgate launching campaign. Come join us!

Hi,

My name is Dave Marsh and I created and/or developed a number of the first point-and-click adventure games (Shadowgate, Deja Vu, Uninvited, Deja Vu II) in the '80s. My company (Zojoi) has acquired the rights to all of my titles and we are currently bringing the first games to mobile devices - The Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective mystery/adventures.

We've just started our kickstarter campaign where we are offering a ton of cool stuff including the games on mac, pc and ios and android devices as well as original and new board games. Even better, because of how these games are designed, we can offer the opportunity for donors to become characters in the game as well as writers for the in-game newspaper - The London Times. We've kept the pledge amounts as low as possible to allow as many people to be immortalized in the process as possible!

This is the kickstarter link

Thanks for taking time to read this and I hope you join our campaign!

Dave Marsh

Yeah, why not. I'm a sucker for FMV-games. If I were you I'd make it more obvious on the Kickstarter page that it's for the PC and Mac too. Obviously I might be wrong, but I suspect most of the people who would consider backing it are computer gamers. Remember you're trying to attract gamers here, not commercial investors.

Also, if you own the rights to these old games.... www.gog.com ?

Thanks for backing me Adventurere No.1 and Kolorabi!

Kolorabi, I made a few changes to the site including the banner to include PC and Mac. Thanks for the tip. I'll also look into gog.com.

I'm in, hopefully this will take off eventually. I'm afraid a lot of the old-school audience is pretty much out of cash after Double Fine and Wasteland though.
Still, get on it people! I want that London Times replica!
Good luck Dave!

That's the next step of the master-plan actually:

Yes! I have obtained the rights to all of my adventures including Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and Uninvited. The great part is that we still have the designs for sequels to Shadowgate (for instance) that were never published. We plan on rolling these out after the Sherlock Mysteries.

Hey, but Comfortably Numb is on "The Wall"!

Good luck with the project, Consulting Detective was a pioneer of the FMV mania, and you can never get enough of the great detective!

Default update

BTW, I just posted an update for Sherlock on kickstarter talking about how the game is played.

Thanks!

I hope you get the funding needed. I played Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective Vol. 1 on the Mega CD, and quite enjoyed it, so I would love to play the rest of the cases on the PC in remastered form.

Good luck with this Dave, I grew up playing all of the games you worked and still go back to them often so I had no problem donating for this. I remember getting Consulting Detective with a Sega CD for Christmas around the time it came out so it'll be interesting to return to it 20 years later.

Also, would it ever be possible to start a Kickstarter to finish Shadowgate Rising in some form? I don't know how far it got in development or how involved you were in its creation but that is honestly one of the games I'm most disappointed never got finished and released and I would gladly support its resurrection in a heartbeat. Or if you magically have a finished prototype of it on a N64 cartridge you could send me, that'd be great too.

I can't believe I've never heard of these Sherlock Holmes games before. FMV games are one of my favourite guilty pleasures. Although in this case, the production values seem actually good. I've pledged and look forward to playing, although I'm even more interested in a sequel to Shadowgate or Uninvited. Best of luck with the project!

Default Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective

Looks like Zojoi (creators of Shadowgate, Deja Vu 1&2 and Uninvited) are looking to re-master and re-release their old FMV Adventure Sherlock Holmes game through Kickstarter.
They also mention the possibility of creating a new game if they get around double the goal amount.
