I'm flying to Japan in a few hours and would love to get some recommendations from Japanese-speaking adventure gamers regarding good adventure games (or visual novels) for the PS3 or Nintendo DS.

I speak and read very basic Japanese, but I'm still learning, so I'm ok with buying a game that has complex language in it and hopefully I'll grow into it I'm actually interested in two types of games:

1) Very good adventure games / visual novels. What is considered the best that the PS3 or DS have to offer?

2) Games with basic Japanese, that have only basic Kanji which perhaps I could already understand well with my current level (perhaps games aimed at 1st-4th graders?)
