Yeah, that's the downside of downloading every game in sight for free... you don't know what to play.

Whatever you do, do NOT play the Neverhood! It's soooooo oooooold and you don't like oooooooold games before 2000. :P

kaicooper 09-26-2011 03:10 PM

lol..u still remember old before 2000 lol

THE NEVERHOOD is great man..

so what do u think about these games guys?

Fien 09-26-2011 03:22 PM

So why are you asking what we think of the Neverhood if you've already decided it's great...

Also, people who illegally download games that are still being sold through normal channels, are harming the developers.

kaicooper 09-26-2011 06:35 PM

downloading means illegal? isnt there purchasing and downloading games ???? :)

if opening a thread bothers u..then plz man dont
lose ur time here ..ok bro :)

Great Game

Hey - there are some really good games there.

I'm playing Secret Files 2 as we speak and it is really good. Art of Murder I played and I liked it.

And Gray Matter - now that the game is in a 4-pac for $19.99 - I'll give it a go. I played CSI also and I really liked it.

:D

Interplay 09-26-2011 08:43 PM

Where is this Gray Matter 4-pack? I would appreciate the info. Thanks.

kaicooper 09-26-2011 09:13 PM

You could get away with that for some games on your lists, but definitely not for all of them.

I'm not your bro, more like your gran, and it's not for you to say whether I should respond to your posts or not.

You mean, the moderators. Discussing illegal downloads is not allowed on this forum.

Yes I can see that it must be the developers fault if you believe you are entitled to take things that aren't yours without payment or permission.

I'm sure that you did not obtain them illegally of course, you're probably just the sort of person who goes out and buys lots of games all in one go without knowing anything about them. I mean who doesn't do that?

kaicooper 09-27-2011 02:46 AM

Hey kaicooper, there's absolutely no need to be disrepectful, and if you keep that up you won't be welcome here for very long.

And I will echo others, and lay down Adventure Gamers' official line. Downloading games illegally is wrong, and posts promoting that kind of activity are not welcome here.

If you're not doing that, then that's fine. If you are however, you are on very thin ice.

smulan 09-27-2011 09:27 AM

kaicooper, Rhem 3 and Rhem 4 would be your kind of game. I'm sure a lot of people can agree on that.

jfcwilson 09-27-2011 10:08 AM

I will briefly pitch in and say that IF you did obtain those games illeagally that's not good. I understand that it's very hard to resist the temptation to grab a whole bunch of games for free when ordinarily you'd pay a couple hundred bucks for the bunch. However, I hope you understand that when you do that you are actively sabotaging the developers carrear, especially those of the numerous indie games on that list-scratches, dark fall, gray matter, barrow hill and others. These developers aren't just turning a profit--they reley on (very low) sales to keep them eating, drinking, and making games. Bottom line is, if you like adventure games, and you want them to keep existing, buy from the developers, don't pirate.

On the slim chance you did not pirate them, however, I can recommend:
Barrow hill
Dark fall: lost soulds
Scratches
Myst III
Myst IV
Outcry
Rhem 3 and 4

Matt Berkeley 09-27-2011 12:32 PM

Why is this accusation that kai is "pirating" the general consensus? There is obviously a language barrier here and the only clear thing here is that kai has been assumed guilty.

Another pretty strange thing is that kai is reprimanded for "being disrespectful" by a "super-moderator". How is this so? Because kai tried to lighten the mood and called Fien "bro"? Is that so horrible? That deserved such a rebuff as "I'm not your bro"... from the initial accuser?

What gives?

Insular?

Much?

aimless 09-27-2011 01:03 PM

Aren't you assuming a thing or two yourself, Matt? How do you know there's a language barrier here? There are plenty of native English speakers who can't be bothered to spell correctly or punctuate sentences or stop referring to others as 'ppl' or 'bro', which would irk me, too.

That said, even if the obvious language barrier exists and if kaicooper has been pirating, it might be better to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he didn't understand why he shouldn't; in which case, jfcwilson's more reasoned (if still somewhat accusatory) approach is probably going to be better than getting snorty with him.

Fien 09-27-2011 01:05 PM

You want proof? Let him tell us where he paid money for a *legal* download of The Neverhood. He can't because there is no such site.

There are sites where old games are available and nowhere is there any indication that you might be engaging in piracy if you download one. So, unsuspecting, you find one you've heard about and hey, great! Only to be whacked over the head later and accused of piracy when you didn't know any better.

I'm going to make an assumption that kaicooper is pretty young and, IMO, you guys are being too hard on him when you don't know for sure that his Great Uncle Cholmondely didn't will him all his hoary pc games.

Fien 09-27-2011 02:03 PM

So now I am the villain...
No way his great uncle left him a collection of adventure games. You're making it up as you go along.

This is too much. I've finally had enough. I'm out of here.

Mikekelly 09-27-2011 02:52 PM

4-Pack

yes, sadly Gray Matter is now a bargain priced title. The pack makes it 5 bucks an adventure and all of them look real good in here:
