Default The Lost Crown Documentary - Exploring Saxton

Here it is: The definitive documentary regarding the real locations in Cornwall and Devon, UK, used as backdrops for The Lost Crown. You'll get to see comparisons of the in-game scenes to the real places, along with general information and trivia.
The video is pretty long, so it is in five parts. The first part is ready to watch now, and I'll be uploading the others over the next few days. Please take the time to click through advertising, as each click goes a little way towards paying for the cost of producing this documentary!
Cheers!

This is excellent, I just came back from my trip to Polperro, it's interesting to recognize in the video the places I've seen!

This was what I saw from the window of my B&B room:

Obviously, being an uber-nerd, I did play some TLC while I was there. It was very creepy.

Also, you can't really tell from the video, but the waitresses at the Plough were very pretty.

Heh heh ;-)
That's a great view! I'll have to give House on the Props a try next time I stay in Cornwall (hopefully soon for Bracken Tor locations trip!).
What Lost Crown/Barrow Hill locations did you get to visit?

Every single one in your guide! Well, except for St Nonna's Well, Cothele Mill and Morwellham Quay, which are a bit difficult to reach.
Btw, your guide proved invaluable, so thanks again!

I enjoyed it a lot, even if the weather was a bit.. ehh.
Besides, the fog makes for a very mystic Duloe stone circle:

What was your favourite location? Mine has always been Stocks Lane. I just found that lane really atmospheric in the game, and magical in real life. Inspired me to start walking in the forest!

Hehe, that's a tough question! I loved all of it!
But I was very impressed by the Talland Bay (Ulcombe) church. It's just so peaceful! And the cemetery outside... the old headstones... it has an air of serenity.

I couldn't resist looking with my binoculars towards the war memorial... I took a picture by pointing the camera though one of the binocular eyepieces. I wonder if the shadow on the right is a ghost...

Talland is my second favourite!
Did you meet Rusty or the black and white cat at Duloe Stone Circle?
I can't believe the crane is still at Polperro. They have been doing cliff work there for nearly a year now! I wonder if Jonathan had to be creative with a few shots to minimise it's existence for The Last Crown.

Wonderful! I wish I could be there (and I feel a bit as if I have been!).

Thanks and I look forward to watching the other parts.

I loved the shot from the B&B too.

Hehe I have no idea if it was Rusty, but I did see a black cat perched on a low wall. I was near one of the cottages on the alley that lead to the field where the stones are. I wonder!

And yeah, the crane is still there. Honestly, I was positively impressed. The way I see it, what they're doing there is an impressive engineering feat. Getting that huge crane on a platform which rests on rocks and stilts that plunge under water is by no means a trivial job. Also, I love how they have monthly bulletins put up on notice boards around town. Very british. Where I'm from, nobody tells you anything about what's going on in a construction site. If anything, they tend to obfuscate any information regarding any kind of activities going on. Just because the less you know, the better off you are.. capisci?

Part 2 is available now: http://blip.tv/on-location/exploring...part-2-5571749

I think Rusty must be gone :-( He was a super friendly cat, always followed you to the circle and back. I "rescued" him once from the churchyard, and there was a bonding moment.

I'm thinking of putting together a DVD of this when it's all done if you don't mind.

BTW Zefram/Cochrane, did you get any other photos on your trip? How was House on the Props for accommodation?

Look at it this way, maybe he's been taken into a house, and is now enjoying a warm fire, perched on a stool. Like a certain other cat.

Oh, I took hundreds! I'm not much of a photographer, so they're not exaclty exhibition material. xD
I guess I could upload them somethere, though. Is flickr any good?

Default I wish

Oh boy, I can live vicariously through you guys. One day I too will go to Polperro or whatever it's called. Meanwhile I'll make do with the guides and my imagination. I can't wait for the Last Crown game to arrive. I just replayed Lost Crown. Currently playing Lost Souls. I really don't like that game much. I'm not a big fan of gore but I love mystery.

I hope so. He was the highlight of our family trips!

Yep, Flickr is great. I recommend purchasing Pro membership (about ÂŁ30 a year) as you can blaze away with uploading very easily (free membership has upload limits). Easy to use all around, with great features such as Sets and Collections, tagging (which I have been very lax about doing) and pinning photos to the map.
