Hello, fellow adventurers!
I recently joined this forum, as you can probably see by my post count. (3 already, yay!)
Anyway, I've sadly never played a lot of adventure games, even though I like the a lot. I've played Monkey Island I, II and III, Legend of Krystandia II: Hand of Fate, Time Gate: Knight's Chase, Ark of Time and recently Amnesia: The Dark Descent (though I don't really define that as an ADVENTURE game, but whatever...) I also played a game with a British dude and his butler trying to get to an island before his rival, but I can't remember its name. It was drawn and took place in 1890-1920 or something. I remember you got off a train in the beginning and it was fully voiced. I have also played the Hugo-series, actually - just remembered. This leads me to the reason I started this thread: Do any of you have any recommendations for some games I should check out/play? I prefer straight "point-n-click" games a la Monkey Island, Hand of Fate etc., but textbased ones would be okay too. I would say Amnesia and maybe Ark of Time were too "interactive" in the sense that I like to get sucked in the enviroment and take the time to solve the puzzles. Anyway, I hope you have some nice suggestions, as I find what I read in here intriguing and exciting and it has renewed my will to play! EDIT: And then I actually took TIME to read all the stickies, and I see that there are some okay lists there. So this post might not be all that necessary... Sorry for the inconvenience! The game you can't remember is Gene Machine.
As for recommendations, you should try Broken Sword and Gabriel Knight series for starters, and of course everything else from Sierra and Lucas Arts. |

Hello , welcome!
I agree with my neighbour from up stairs! You can also try Simon the sorcerer and Discworld! And If it's Lucasarts , you should continue with Day of the Tentacle and Full Throtle. (I'm crazy 'bout 2d games!) |

Thank you all so far for your recommandations. I should mention that I have played most Survival Horror games too and Heavy Rain, which was fantastic.
I think I will try out some Indiana Jones' games, as I remember I tried a demo of one of them, where he's in a musem rummaging through stuff. Broken Sword also sound intriguing, after what I've read. Would it be worth it to check out Legend of Kyrandia: I and III as well? |

Kyrandia 2 was, in my opinion, the best of the three, but the other two are pretty good too. just save often in the first game as you can and will die a lot
the third one's a bit inconsistent with the storyline of the first but is still a rather fun end to the trilogy

If you liked Monkey Island and its humour
You might like to try: Sam & Max: Hit the Road (the original game) Zak McKracken Maniac Mansion Day of the Tentacle. but definitely Gabriel Knight series and Broken sword. also.... Blackmirror is worth a look. |
