Wow, there are loads of words/phrases used to describe adventure games; I wouldn't know where to begin. :P

This springs to mind, though:

Picking up everything that isn't nailed down

By far my favorite is the various hillarious comments you get from different games when you click "use" on yourself. :D

The most recent one I played was Dirty Split where his comment to that was "There will be plenty of time for that later..." :D :D :D

edit: eh wait I just realized that comment had nearly nothing to do with this thread, oh well I'll just "word" what Fein said then.

"Ken sent me" ;)

"Great way to kill an hour---or five or twenty!"

also:

"I don't know how to (blank) the (blank) with the (blank)!"

Let's see if anyone gets this one:

"Soon, my friend... soon."

"You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike."

"You have entered a dark place. You are likely to be eaten by a grue."

Certainly two of the most iconic phrases, anyway.

Anything including the words "Kate Walker".

Probably me thinking to myself "Okay. I need to get the cracker from the drain to give to the bird to get the feather to tickle the wizard to get the key to open the desk to get the mouldy sandwich. But how do I get the cracker?"

^ Ha Ha Ha :D

That's how I'm made to think by games, so often!

Does anyone remember -
"Ahh Textiles from the Shaman collection"
I don't know why but every time I hear this
it puts a smile on my face. :)

For me it it would be:
'Exploration (of interesting places)'

2 words ...Tex & Murphy

JackVanian 04-20-2011 07:33 AM

For me it's definitely immersion.

That's the thing I'm looking for and this expression contains other very other important elements like atmosphere, story and character development.

Afgncaap

Weare6 04-20-2011 05:15 PM

....... from the beginning of "Indy 3 Last Crusade".

Growing up on Sierra adventures it was always:

"Save early, save often!" :)
