Anyone any idea as to when it might be released? I don't want him to rush it, however, my wife is due to give birth in mid-October and the prospect of visiting Saxton pre-progeny is rather more attractive than post-!!

I hope the map allows for quick jumps between certain locations. The backtracking in The Lost Crown was a bit tedious at times.

Have you seen Downfall? The backgrounds were somewhat like that. And Outcry (Sublustrum) is another game that comes to mind with a similar pallette for parts of it. On topic: I can't believe he's cluttered the screen I really hope all of that stuff is 'shrinkable' and it can be viewed with a clear screen. It seriously annoys me in AGS when the screen is cluttered up and you can't get good screenshots and in a beautiful game like Lost Crown particularly.

I'm really starting to get excited about this. RPG elements? At least some non-linear gameplay?
Does anyone have any info at all about the release date? It does say 2011 after all. |

Take that with a pinch of salt. I'd be amazed if it came out this year. And yeah, it sounds like Boakes has maybe been rethinking his recent move towards linear gameplay (Dark Fall: Lost Souls and Lights Out 'Directors Cut' edition). I hope so!

Sometimes when I leave home or have to undertake some task, I hear Nigel saying, "Nothing ventured..."

And let's hope it's also got the shipping forecast! This was sorely missed in Lost Souls. All joking apart, this is just one of the small details which makes Boakes' games so very English in feel. I too hope the map and gadget aren't on the screen all the time as they do detract from the main view. Having character icons appear when speaking seems unnecessary too, and again could take the player out of the immersive atmosphere. Having said all that, I've never looked foreward to a game as much as to this one, because despite the flaws in his games (every game has flaws), nobody makes games with the atmosphere, "feel" and general spookiness as well as Mr Boakes.

Also, did anyone else notice the concave screen layout? Strange.

^ Ooh! It tapers in the middle! How odd, I hadn't even noticed. Attempting to achieve a virtual IMAX effect?
