This had slipped under my radar. Thanks for the heads up!
Looks like I'll have to move THE LOST CROWN up my to-play pile a bit. |

Very interesting idea that would work, and I'd love if the crown just got to sit in the Museum, what with it being so easily broken-in-to.

I think his Easter release date was a bit optimistic.

Don't give in!
There are more holidays to come. Isn't now the traditionall "i desperately wait for another Jonathan Boakes game" -time? I can differenciate between this time and the " i'm to busy to talk, want to play my new Boakes game"-time. |

It looks like he has the same policy as Matt Clark: make up rubbish until people lose interest.

So it says this game was to be released Q2 of this year, but still has no publisher. Any news on the status? Anyone??

It's nice to know we'll be getting a third game, and as soon as next year apparently, but I also wouldn't mind if Jonathan would take a breather from his ambitious plans to give us some concrete info on the release of the must-be-nearing-completion second game.

He needs to get Braken Tor out of the system first. To avoid competing himself he might push the Last Crown to Q4.

Jonathan is not the creator of Bracken Tor.

Looks amazing. Not sure if I like the head shots, and is that suppoed to be Lucy?! Well, still I'm looking forward to it, and glad to see some of Saxton from a different view.

Hehe well, characters are bound to look slightly different between one instalment of a game sries and the next. I notice that Nigel looks somewhat less like Boakes, and has gained a more unique identity.
Anyway, it looks fantastic. That goes without saying, really. It's amazing. I do have the same criticism I had for TLC (btw, what's short for The Last Crown gonna be? TLC2?). I feel that the game would retain its atmosphere if it featured extremely desaturated colours (plus the signature vivid-colour details) rather than pure grayscale. I feel it would convey the same otherworldly feeling, but with a touch of realism. Last edited by ZeframCochrane; 08-29-2011 at 01:17 PM. |

Wow. This looks absolutely amazing.
I'm glad not much has changed since TLC1, since I loved the atmosphere of that game. The addition of a map is unusual for an adventure game, but there must be some reason for it and I'm looking forward to see what it adds to the game. What I'm hoping for is a full, high resolution game. Which means for me 1650x1050, not 1024x768 upscaled like most AGs are. It looks 16x10 which is a good sign as I don't have a 16x9 HD monitor. When all games are made in this format, which seems inevitable since TV and movies have gone to that, I'll get one. Right now, whis is my most anticipated game. Concur with recent comments - looks terrific. However, have to disagree with Zefram, I think he should stick with the B&W with the odd sliver of colour - it adds greatly to the atmosphere and feels more echt when one considers the source material - M.R. James. Speaking of James, I wonder if Boakes will continue to mine his work for references and inspiration. There was certainly a multitude of such material within TLC1, especially the references to the Agar family, which came from A Warning to the Curious.
I'm pleased that Boakes has taken account of contributors' comments regarding the dialogue. And the development of the game appears to have created a whole plethora of possibilities as to where he might take the general narrative. As excited as they sound, I can't help but mention my own concerns, that I hope he doesn't get side-tracked with quantity rather than quality. Although, looking at the tremendous new screenshots, I don't think that's going to happen. |

Also, kudos to Mr. Boakes for taking the bold decision of using a higher resolution. If TLC2 is still being developed in Wintermute, and if the engine's limitations I've heard about still hold, it could mean that people with lower-resolution displays won't be able to play the game. |

I'm just excited that there will be more Danverspeak, although skippable of course.
And in his blog, he says there's tons of characters he can branch off stories from, but I'm still waiting for Mr. Gruel...
