I'm surprised no one has already mentioned the box art of Broken Sword here. It was called terrible a few times in this forum before. And just looking at it again...it isn't very good at representing the game, is it? What's up with this brooding, mysterious tattooed guy? Don't remember his appearance in the game...

Oh, and then there's Ring, which just looks bland and unimaginative. Showing a ring on the cover when the game is called Ring...genius! I get bored just by looking at it. Or it may just be the memories of the game resurfacing...

...anyway, that's enough for now!
I agree with the original AT cover looking really bland, but I strongly disagree about the other 3 - I think all of these covers are great.

The point of the Broken Sword cover was creating a moody piece that speaks of history, mysteries and conspiracies and I think it does that really well.

Yet I still haven't gotten AT working in high resolution without extreme lagging. I still want to play this brilliant piece of work.

I also experienced some rare lag. It only happened in the big environments (like the harbour, and the arena), but yeah, the frame rate dropped quite heavily...
I blamed it on my rather weak computer. DosBox can be quite demanding! Are you playing it with DosBox?

Certainly, the American AT cover represents the game much, much better, even if I don't like the drawing of it, and maybe I was a bit harsh on the Ring one, but I stand by the rest. The Broken Sword cover definitely insults my sense of aesthetics.

I'm not a fan of Broken Sword covers, either. I think they're one reason it took me so long to get to playing them.

Do you think this Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror cover is much better?

That BS2 cover is so misleading. XD

I think people that bought the game on the basis of that image would mostly feel let down.

It's certainly not terrible; It's easier on the eye at the very least. I wouldn't say it's misleading as I believe it refers to the opening cutscene and the culture that is represented in-game (I think, could be wrong).

It doesn't really suit the game, though. I'll admit I prefer the less-specific covers for BS3 and 4.

True, the USA version does look like something from Gabriel Knight!

I like the front covers to BS1 and 2. They're by no means amazing, but... yeah. However, the front cover for BS4 is utter crap.

EDIT: picture doesn´t work anymore

so here´s a link

http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/baphomets-fluch-der-engel-des-todes/cover/34859.html

That´s the German cover, which is ok, but the one that got posted earlier is indeed awful.

Like BS1 & BS2 covers as well.

I love Realms of the Haunting but think the box didn't do a good job of conveying what the game was. Too many colors mixing, guy's face melting, etc.

Hehe, you're welcome

Personally I've always loathed the box designs of that brief period in the mid-90's when plastic-looking 3D renders were considered cooler than painted artwork.

Edit: Also, since I forgot to link, there's a part 2 to the Druid photoshop thread: http://www.somethingawful.com/d/phot...ery-druids.php

I don't know. There is bad covers, and there are covers that work with the game and title. That said, I think the Ripper cover looks fine. It fits the atmosphere.

I agree that early 3D renders for box art is terrible, but on the other hand, I kind of liked Bureau 13's Euro box.

My Lighthouse cover is the same benign graphic as your's and FOV's. I've never seen the ugly one.

I actually kind of liked this one. Cameron Files...a file folder. Made sense.

Ugh, how could I forget about Chronomaster! Indeed, its cover is ugly for sure! Well, at least it's a good representation of the in-game graphics, they're just as stiff and plastic...
