Bumping this thread, because the book is in the final proof stages, and should hopefully be out next month!
From the intro: Hardcoregaming101.net Presents: The Guide to Classic Graphic Adventures is an ode to one of the oldest genres in electronic gaming. It is over 760 pages in length, covers nearly 300 games and includes a number of interviews with classic game developers. It is an expansive tome, jam packed to the brim with history, criticism, and trivia. If you've ever asked the question "If I like LucasArts and Sierra games, what other games should I play?", then this book should be your bible. As of current planning, the book should be available by late April. The physical copy will cost $27 from Amazon (and qualifies for free super saver shipping), while an e-book for the Kindle will cost about $10. For right now, the physical copy is only technically available on the US Amazon site due to constraints with Createspace, the print-on-demand publisher I'm using, though copies tend to filter to international sites like Amazon UK over the course of a few weeks. The Amazon US site should ship overseas, though. More details (including full, finalized table of contents): http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/book.html |

For a book with the ambition to be so all-encompassing, it's missing some quite important classics, like the FMV Tex Murphy games, Azrael's Tear and Discworld Noir.
Not that you will change that now that you almost released it, but I simply had to wonder out loud! Anyway, great cover, love all those iconic elements on it. Sounds promising! |

The Tex Murphy games are in, as are Discworld...the full articles are actually on the site at the moment.
Azreal's Tear didn't make the cut, though. |

I will be buying a hard copy of this book as soon as it is in stock at Amazon, being as how I am a Sierra (sierra) and LucasArts (indy) long-time fan.

Hey guys, I'm not sure if I should start a whole new topic or not, but this is finally done and available to order! It apparently takes about a week before it shows up on Amazon, but you can order it straight from Createspace here:
https://www.createspace.com/3569993 Use the coupon code DN84NDUU to cover the cheapest shipping (and give a discount for the more expensive options) You can read about the book (table of contents and so forth) here: http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/book.html |

This book looks fantastic, will be ordering. In retrospect, wish I had volunteered to be a part of it.

Congrats, discoalucard! From the covers and the free fragments looks like you did a wonderful job with the book. Also, a very comprehensive list of titles you've chosen.

Ah, finally! This will look good on my bookshelf. I'm a bit wary of spoilers in some of the articles, so I won't exactly be reading it from cover to cover. Will make great bedtime reading, though, I'm sure!
Congratulations on publishing! |

Just got it in the mail today. It is HUGE. Great stuff. Every fan of adventure games should grab one as a historical compilation.
As I said before, I wish I had heeded the original post in this thread and contributed to the book. It's outstanding.

Thanks, glad you enjoy it!
I should note that the Kindle version is out and is $9.99 versus the $27 of the physical copy of the book. It's also in color if you have a device that supports it. I may look into other ebook formats to sell directly (or possibly just straight old PDF too.) |
