Enjoy!

Can we actually run in the game this time? That really turned me off. Couldn't continue playing.

J.H 06-07-2010 08:02 AM

Never even heard of this game but I love the graphic style.

There was a preview here, in adventure gamers:

Good news. Been thinking about replaying it.

theduramater 06-07-2010 09:36 PM

Am I missing something? What's different from the origional?

frusky 06-08-2010 04:41 AM

Hello.
The new assets of this version are:
- Visual improvements and changes: polished backgrounds, new characters, special effects, etc...
- New scenes and several new puzzles and footage.
- A new and spectacular final puzzle.
- Shortcut icon to the map.
- Double-clicking increases the speed of the main character movement.
- New additional voice-over.
- Revised playability, so that you can play in any order and choosing one path or another.
- Scoring system for each solved puzzle. In the style of RPGs, each clue you discover opens new options. At the end of the game you obtain a percentage of the discovered content. If you complete 100%, an extra scene is showed. The puzzles you solve affects the development of the story.
- Improved lip synching.
- Modified conversations for a boost to the pace of the game.
- New mix of music and sound. Some extra tracks added.
- Additional Bonus Content Folder, including sketches, backgrounds, character designs, etc...
- Optimized engine.
- Windows 7 compatible.

With so many changes, it seems like the original version was a beta :shifty:

Jorz 06-08-2010 06:01 AM

- New additional voice-over

Can you elaborate?

J.H 06-08-2010 02:01 PM

Looks good, although I can't stand points, especially in adventure games.

When can we expect this release?

Well. Some new lines were recorded since there are additional puzzles and scenes that didn't appear in the first version.

This was probably the greatest disappointment i have had in studying and researching any game, i love the wonderful novel that this game is based on but the game itself is a joke, one of the worst disney style animated travesties that should never have gotten out of the box. I threw mine away with great relief for that meant there was one less copy for time to erase.

gloryfades 06-09-2010 04:43 PM

Never played the original, is this game worth playing? I see the DC is $10, not too shabby.

tastebud 06-09-2010 09:44 PM

i'd like to see a review somewhere, even if its in spanish. the trailer looks really good actually. is there a demo somewhere?

Monolith 06-10-2010 02:06 AM

Finally, I think I might be able to play this game now. from what I did play, it was pretty interesting. I actually liked the art style too.

frusky 06-12-2010 01:00 PM

Hello Tastebud.
You can read a review in spanish from this web, the most important web about adventures in spanish.

Has anyone actually gotten it yet? I just did but my download says part of it is corrupt. I tried multiple times which depleted the 5 download total they give you and it is corrupt every time. I emailed them to see if they can fix this issue, but I want to know if anyone else has had the same problem. Thanks!

frusky 06-13-2010 07:39 AM

VictimOfScience, try to download again. It must be a problem with the server or the rar file. To get more downloads email to [email protected] and they will probably reset your counter to 5.

Sometimes you can repair a corrupted rar file using the repairing tool in WinRar. To do it just follow the instruction below:
1. Open the file TheAbbey_1 with WinRar (or the file corrupted).
2. Go to Tools->Repair file (alt+r).
3. Choose the location where the rest of the files are.
4. When the file is repaired, WinRar creates a file named “fixed.TheAbbey_1.rar”. To uncompress, just move the old file TheAbbey_1.rar to another folder (it’s better not to delete for it may be necessary repair the file again). Then, rename “fixed.TheAbbey_1.rar” to “TheAbbey_1.rar”.
5. Uncompress the file normally.

They seem to have fixed it by now. I have downloaded the files again and now it went fine.

Lee in Limbo 06-20-2010 12:08 PM

Actually, I tend to think of that as being a 'classical animation' style of art, not simply a 'Disney' style. More to the point, it's all 3D cel shading, which makes it much more than it appears, and I for one am quite impressed. It's a very distinctive and effective art style for an adventure game. If this style of art had been used for the Broken Sword sequels, there would have been fewer complaints, I believe.

As for the game, I haven't played the previous release, so this might well be a game I'll be looking into shortly.
