Default Murder Mysterys

Hi guys, getting back into adventure gaming and would like some opinions. Can anyone recommend any good detective/sleuth murder mystery games. You know, searching around for clues, talking to people, that sorta thing.

I just finished Blade Runner, and Broken Sword 1, and I wanna keep going!

Thanks.

Those I like the most are: Gabriel Knight (all of them), Black Mirror (1 and 2) and Still Life.

Gabriel Knight and Black Mirror deal with serail killings and also with supernatural things such as ghosts, voodoo, warewolves and so on.

Still Life is an excelent game about serial killers. I mean the first one. The seond one is not good enough, in my opinion, unless you like the Saw movies...

Why elementary my dear rntrndrw (I prefer Watson)

Frogwares all new Sherlock Holmes series is the way to go for a decent murder mystery. These are the title worth looking at

SH: The Case/Secret of the Silver Earring
SH: The Awakened
SH vs Arsene Lupin/Nemesis
SH vs Jack the Ripper
Testament of SH(not released yet)

Also I'd recommend the Blackwell gameseries. Noir supernatural detective stories with surrealist touch and one of the best dialogues you'll ever hear.

Also have you played "The Last Express" one of the best murder mystery games out there.

I have already played through GK 1 and 2, Still Life and the Last Express, all were wonderful.

Oh man, those Sherlock Holmes games look amazing. I think steam has jack the ripper. Maybe I'll check that one out.

Thanks!

There are also the three games based on Agatha Christie's books: And Then There Were None, Murder on the Orient Express and Evil Under the Sun. You can buy them separately, the first two in a double-pack, or all three in a triple-pack collection.

Black Dahlia is an older classic, difficult but not impossible to find. Hard puzzles, lots of investigating and searching, hilarious easter eggs.

Jack the Ripper's the best one in my opinion but I'd addvise starting with an earlier installment. Either Case/Secret of the Silver Earring or The Awakened. Of course if Jack the Ripper's the only one on steam... how about GOG?

Has anyone played post mortem? looks noir, and I find that fasinating.

Oh golly! I thaught you knew those games. The Case of the Serrated Scalpel ad The Rose Tatto are older SHgames and much more highly regarded.

GOG.com is a website where you can legally download and buy older games for really low prices

Post Mortem is a prequal and in my opinion watered down version of Still Life

I think it's an EA game.

Post Mortem is ok, but too short. Nothing special really. The ones I recommended earlier are much better.

Blue Heat & SFPD homicide are FMV games. If you are interested in those , you might also want to try

I found Post Mortem to be very bland. Very much style over content. And there were numerous troublesome gameplay issues with it. I wouldn't reccomend it personally.

Wow thanks for the youtube links! I don't mind FMV, sometimes I prefer it! The horrible acting can sometimes be a riot!

Its a shame post mortem isnt any good, I actually own it somehow???(Don't ever remember buying it). But I didn't want to install it if it was no good.

Dark side of the moon looks a little silly, and is In Memoriam also known as Missing?

If you're not afraid to go back in time a bit, the two Laura Bow games - The Colonel's Bequest and The Dagger of Amon Ra - are Sierra classics and should be played by anyone who enjoys a good murder mystery. They might be tricky to track down but they are worth the effort.

Yep.

If you already own Post Mortem anyway then I can't see the harm in installing it and judging for yourself, unless your hard drive space is at a premium.

Post Mortem no good? Not in my humble opinion.

It is one of the very few non-linear AG's I've ever played, full of atmosphere, interesting characters and a good murder mystery to boot.

Some of the puzzles were to tough for me but that's why they invented walkthroughs.
