sam & max poll at ign

http://pc.ign.com

IGN asks us the following:
"Which of our Missing In Action games would you most like to play?"

come on everyone vote so we can get it to number 1 and then throw that in lucasarts face as well

guybrush_guy 03-28-2004 05:02 PM

just a little added note.
the poll is all the way down on the page to the rite. clicking on the link at the top gives you a brief artical on each game. still worth the read thoe

24.2% Duke Nukem Forever
23.7% Baldurs Gate 3
19.5% Sam & Max : FP

It's in third place! Let's kick that up to no.1, beat DNF!
(While DNF is like the most weirdly postponed and longest anticipated game in the history of videogames). Well I'm atleast sure we can beat BD3. Come on, stick it to LEC some more

I voted for Sam & Max, although I'm not surprised to see Duke in first place. Duke Nukem Forever has become a classic even before its release. It is the archetypal delayed game. But I'm glad to see that Sam & Max is at least pulling a pretty respectable third place.

On a side note, I'm kind of sad to see Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse fall into a state of development limbo after 3DO's bankrupcy. It was one of the games I was keeping an eye on for a while. Of course, I wasn't sure if it was actually going to be cool or if they were just going for shock value, but it looked like it had a lot of potential. Oh well.

I'm surprised to see it up there. I thought that people stopped caring about it years ago.

guybrush_guy 03-28-2004 06:33 PM

i always thought it was released

At this point I don't think it's a matter of caring about it as a game in and of itself. It's more the entertainment value of seeing just how many times they can delay the thing. I actually wasn't all that interested in it when it was first announced. But it has since moved beyond the prerelease hype and passed into the realm of legend. Duke Nukem Forever isn't a real game. It's a fairy tale that you tell your children like the Tooth Fairy or the Easter Bunny. In fact, at this point I would probably buy the game if it were ever released just for the sheer historical value of it. But that will probably never happen, so I can save my money.

Duke Nukem 22.1%

Oh and Dimensio, great work posting on fark.com about Sam and Max. Did you submit the headline?

HieroHero 03-28-2004 08:43 PM

zarathustrian 03-28-2004 08:50 PM

Wow--a poll on IGN that isn't blatant advertising? I never thought the day would come.

I wonder if my posting about the poll at fark.com had anything to do with it...

I didn't post the story to Fark, I just took advantage of it to tell about Sam & Max, and spread the word as best I could. I've only had two submissions to Fark accepted. One was asking for advice on a traffic ticket, the other was a post about Ohio's idiotic decisions to allow Intelligent Design "Theory" into school classrooms.

Kolzig 03-29-2004 04:12 AM

Over 30% now, it seems Sam & Max are taking a clear victory

All we have to do now, is to show that to LA :)

I will be printing it out and sending it via snail mail, in addition to sending a screenshot via email.

Guybrush Guy, did you get my last pm?

mag 03-29-2004 04:03 PM

Wow. Somewhere in the world a LucasArts fan has a very tired mouse finger.

Well, it's great news for Sam & Max, but I can't help but feel a little sorry for the Duke. Sure, I'd rather play Sam & Max, but it's Duke! If he can't even make the best Missing in Action game, what's really left for him? This is indeed a sad day for Duke Nukem.

You think that's bad? Check out LA's tech support forum for "other games".

Someone isn't doing a good thing.

Unless they were to delete their cookies between votes.
