Good 3rd Person Adventure games? (Not includdng Lucasarts & Sierra)
Aside from Lucasarts & Sierra titles, what are the really good 3rd person adventure games prior to The Longest Journey. I mean, after seeing Flight of the Amazon Queen & Beneath a Steel Sky, I can only hope there are a few more good adventure titles out there, which I might have missed out on.
I vaguely recall a Space Quest wannabe, which I nearly checked out, just prior to SQ4's release and was on the shelves along w/ a SQ1-3 collection. Also, were those Everquest adventure games ever any good? I remember seeing one w/ a impish looking Jester, that again, I nearly checked out. Sky Warrior Bob

I always thought that Everquest were RPG games and for the impish jester you're probably thinking of the Kyrandia games which are generally well regarded in the adventure community. The Space Quest ripoff you're thinking of could be any number of games, my guess is Rex Nebular??

Yeah, Kryandia sounds about right. As for the Space Quest clone, I haven't a clue.
What about the Discworld games? Are they any good? Sky Warrior Bob

The Discworld games are good.

The Discworld games are great(all three of them, albeit there are great differncess between them), and so is the Simon the Sorcerer-series. Syberia is also a game that deserves mentioning.
The Quivering, one of my uttermost favourites in the adventure genre, is a blend of first- and thirdperson perspective. I know that a lot of people here hated Stupid Invaders, but....it is a third person game and it is on my top-ten-list. I love it!

I at least want to get one good title out of it. I'm looking into getting either the Krydania or Discworld games, but they're semi-pricey. So I'm still poking around. Once I find a must-have title, I'll reveal my source. Sky Warrior Bob

Hmm, its easier to name by companies that produced great 3rd person games:
AdventureSoft (Simon the Sorcere 1-2, Feeble Files) Access Software (2 first Tex Murphy games, Countdown, Amazon) Westwood (Kyrandia 1-3, Blade Runner) Coktel Vision (Goblins 1-3,Woodruff, Bargon Attack) Divide by Zero (maybe their wannabe of SQ game - Innocent Until Caught (2 games). plus another great game title Gene Machine) Dream Forge (Chronomaster and Sanitarium) Electronic Arts (LBA 1-2, 2 Sherlock Holmes games) Infogrames ( Alone in the Dark 1 and Shadow of the Comet) Micro Prose (Dragon Sphere, Rex Nebular, Phantom of Opera) And Revolution, Psygnosis - you know their games. Also games like Igor, Touche, Dreamweb and many other are worth of your attention. There were LOTS of other great 3rd person game titles apart from ones by LA and Sierra. |

Mostly, because the only way you can find the zShops, is to change the section in the search bar, from All Products to zShops. Otherwise, you rarely ever find linkage to the zShops, even when Amazon.com otherwise doesn't have what you're looking for. Here's linkage to Lucasarts items alone. I'll admit it isn't a huge resource, but its all in one easy to find place, and at least the prices are fixed. Which, excludding Buy it Now, is better than eBay. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re...full-results=1 Sky Warrior Bob

I really liked Shannara by Legend Entertainment, designed by the Coles.
Oh wait, that's first person, my bad.

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this, and I suppose its partly first-person two. But most of the puzzles and enjoyment of 'The Neverhood' can be found in third-person too. |
