Lucas Arts Archieve Collection.

I already bought one of the lucas arts's collection years ago (with full trotle, monkey island 1 and 2, the dig, etc) and now I want to buy the other one which includes Sam and Max, Indiana Jones and Day of the Tentacle. I want to know though if speech is inluded in those games (since the lucas arts store doesn't explain the details)? Has somebody played that collection and possibly know if speech is inlcluded?
Thanx in advance.

All those games have speech.

I've got two volumes of LucasArts Archives and they're cool. :) If you haven't got these games you should definatley get them. :)

None of the Indy graphic adventures have speech.

Apparently the CD version of Fate of Atlantis does.

Moron Lite 03-25-2004 02:27 AM

Really? Huh, that's news to me. How's Indy sound?

D.C. 03-25-2004 02:32 AM

I think the same voice actor plays Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. :) Sounds pretty much like Indy from the movies. :)

Garyos 03-25-2004 02:50 AM

I think he sound kinda dull. I played FoA without speech the first time, and I liked it better then.

I have that collection and yes they talk, but i have to use scummVM to get them to work correctly.

I think Doug Lee is better Indy than the guy who was in the latest Indy game.

And yes, he was in Fate of Atlantis and Infernal Machine.

It's worth bearing in mind that it's probably more common for people to prefer the first version of a game they play, since they adjust themselves to the particulars of that version (in this case, you probably filled in Indy's voice in your mind and it didn't sound as accurate when you played the talkie). Most people who played FOA with speech though seem to agree that LEC did a good job with it.

Here's an odd bit of trivia: the voice actor of the mad scientist in FoA is the same voice actor as Dr. Fred from DOTT!

Does anyone know if the CD-version of Day of Tentacle in this package also comes along with Maniac Mansion?

Yes, it does. You access it from the computer in the game. I'm not sure if ScummVM supports it like that though.

lemonhead11 03-25-2004 05:44 PM

Scummvm doesn't support the Maniac Mansion in DOTT or in any case it didn't work for me. I think you can access it from the CD if not from the game. I never really checked because I have a different version anyway.

Somehow I managed to acquire a VGA version of Maniac Mansion. Did Lucasarts create this for FMTowns or is it fanmade?

Yeah, you can just point ScummVM to the folder and it should run no problems.

They DID make a VGA version of Zak McKracken for FMTowns, so it's possible, though I've never heard of it.

Leonardi 03-26-2004 04:40 AM

What does FMTowns mean? What is it?

A console from early 90s which saw some of the Lucasarts adventure games released.

Most notably, VGA version of Zak McKracken was exclusive to this system, but you can still play it using SCUMMVM.

try looking for FM Towns version of Zak using eDonkey or another file sharing utility.

Music alone is available there:
