Has anyone played Blue Ice?

Just curious as to what it's like.

Painful. Very painful.

It's pure art, though impossible to play.

I agree with Ariel Type, it's art. Great music too. I found the game mesmerizing but after a while too frustrating to continue. Simply too difficult. Glad I played part of it, though.

I concur. It's art. Click everywhere until your hand is sore, inscrutable solutions to puzzles (lips?), and hypnotizing. I played the demo and had to add the boxed version to the collection nonetheless when it came up on eBay. It's on the "absolutely must play through someday" shelf along with "Alice: An Interactive Museum" (never got all the cards), but I wonder if I ever will.

Fien sold the game to me on eBay a few years ago! :D

I'll echo that it was very artsy and surreal. Some of the techno music in certain screens was very catchy. I could only finish the actual adventure portion with the help of a walkthrough (some of the poetic clues were very obscure).

I never finished the second portion, where you trace letters of the alphabet to spell out various sayings. (This can only be done after finishing the adventure portion.) Players were also supposed to be able to piece together historical dates and references which supposedly led to some "Ultimate Solution", but there wound up being no actual prize awarded. (Also, I never understood if the numbers in the magic squares were relevant in any way.) I vaguely remember reading somewhere that even the original creators forgot how to reach the Ultimate Solution!

Yep. Someone gave me the nice boxed version, so I sold the CD in jewel case for 5 American dollars. (Okay, I checked my archives...) Not too much for real art, is it. :P
