A good start - however I have over 40 adventure games on my DS to include:
Thersia: Dear Emily Syberia Treasure on the Tracks Lux Pain All released in the US. |
Dementium is not really an adventure game imo. It's more like an FPS.
|
Nice iniative. Top of my mind:
Sherlock Holmes - Mystery of the Mummy Developer: Frogwares Publisher: Focus Home Interactive US Release: Released Last Window (japanese title) Developer: Cing Publisher: --probably NOA-- US Release: we hope so Also, I agree with M-E on Dementium. EDIT: Also there are certain games I've seen on stores that look like adventures but I've never played any of them to tell, like: CSI: Deadly Intent - Hidden Cases CSI: Dark Motives Cate West: The Vanishing Files Nancy Drew: Hidden Staircase Nancy Drew: The Deadly Secret of Olde World Park Nancy Drew: The Mystery of the Clue Bender Society |
Cate West The Vanishin Files is a HOG.
Other adventures for the DS: Last King of Africa (port of Paradise on PC) Ankh (port of PC game) Jake Hunter Detective Story: Memories of the Past Myst (port of PC game) Runaway 2: The Dream of the Turtle (port of PC game) Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis (port of PC game) Secret Files: Tunguska (port of PC game) Touch Detective Touch Detective 2 1/2 Undercover: Dual Motives (not port PC game) Hannah Montana (not the Music games) Soon to come: So Blonde (not port PC game) |
Keep in mind that the DS version of Myst sucks.

Hi pointandclicklover,
My website may help with a few more. It has a section that lists Adventures for DS and other platforms. It's not bang up-to-date, but it lists quite a few. Just click on the 'DS, etc Adventures' link in the menu on the lef hand side of the Home Page. Adventure Point game information database Hopefully, that will help you a little. :) |
thanks thats great help

Just a few games from the top of my head:
Criminology (aka Crime Scene) Developer: White Birds Productions Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jygMqWU00K0 LifeSigns Developer: Spike Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZKUk3xBAKI (The game is heavily story-driven. You do perform operations, but you will spend more time going round the hospital talking to various characters.) Miami Law (aka Miami Crisis) Developer: Hudson Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1IDXPWWknc (There's a mix of 'action' and investigation. I think there's enough investigation segments for it to be an adventure game. The 'action' segments feel like minigames anyway.) Unsolved Crimes Developer: Now Production Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPQamu7KKBc Not out yet, but hopefully sometime this year: AGAIN Developers: Cing, Tecmo Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjiRB0shYcs (English!) If you're thinking of including import titles as well, then that's going to be one big list lol. I made a list of Japanese adventure DS games from a couple of years ago, and it's pretty out of date. But if you are planning on also including Japanese games, than I guess that's a good place to start. |
i was mainly looking at english titles as you said import espically japanese there are soo many but it is just annoying you hear about a great game and then you find you can't play it as you don't understand the language. Its a shame as there have been some really interesting games developed but then again they may feel the same about english language titles. i hope i havnt annoyed anyone with this post i dont mean to and im sorry if it has.

Got a DS for my birthday yesterday :D. Just ordered BS: DC, just wondered if there's any other third person DS adventures?
|
Quick Q... Does anyone know anything about the Sinking Island DS release? I've been searching online and I can only get references to it from a couple of years back. Was it cancelled?
|
How lucky you! We do not have as many adventure games for DS here. I hope some of these games come out sooner or later ... for now, it's a too rare commodity, the DS being intended primarily to very young audiences in my country.

"Got a DS for my birthday yesterday . Just ordered BS: DC, just wondered if there's any other third person DS adventures?" I just LOVE adventure games on my DS. I'm now buying 10 DS adventures for every PC adventure I get. For you - I'd recommend "Syberia" - its third person. ;) |
Thanks! Played Syberia on the PC though and it really didn't excite me I felt the characters were very wooden.
Really enjoying BS:DC although Georges portrait art looks nothing like him (strangely really effects my gaming experience with it lol) |
Last King of Africa
If you are looking for an excellent Third Person game on the Nintendo DS - I highly recommend "Last King of Africa" it is amazingly good - and seems to be bug free compared to the Paradise - the PC version.
The game plays very similarly to Syberia on PC but with some nice touches thanks to the touch screen and dual screen on the DS. If any of you are familiar with broken sword, syberia, sam and max, beneath a steal sky and games of that nature then this is definitely worth a look. The touch screen is perfectly calibrated and effective, the top screen constantly displays a map of the area which prevents you from getting disoriented going from location to location. While this game is a fairly loose remake of the old PC game 'Paradise'. I must emphasize the word 'loose' in that sentence. While the great story and plot are fully in tact there are additions to this great tale that make it well worth your time. New characters, rewritten scripts, new animations and cinematics all add charm. I just finished it and it was an amazing journey through Africa. I thought Syberia 1 and 2 on the PC were stunning and this game can join those two in my great adventure games worth playing twice category. |
I really enjoyed Hotel Dusk. Pheonix Wright and Layton aren't traditional adventures, but I loved them too (I've played first two in each series)
