Default Blood Island 3d

Check this out, some guys are making a 3d model of blood island from CMI, it's really accurate...(hope this hasn't been posted already)

it would be ausome if someone redid the hole game that way and then subsituted the 2d bacgrounds with the 3d and left everything else 2d

I thought these were the same guys making a CMI mod for Quake 3...But no.

What's the purpose of them making this? Do they plan to have it be a setting for a fan game or something? BTW Guybrush Guy, I think that would be "OCKWARD."

I don't think there's much purpose other than making some fanart. Which in itself is a purpose I guess.

But in order to do that someone would have to put alot, and I mean *ALOT* of effort into it (and for what? fanart?). Imagine how hard it is for amature 'developers' to create even half-decent 2D graphics, and then think about what that means when you'd have to transform the entire game world, every item, etc. into 3D graphics (think models, but also textures). That would probably match the time it would take to create all 3D art (models&textures) for a commercial game. I'm not saying I wouldn't play it, I'm just saying it'll never happen and I don't think that's much of a loss. I mean it could never look as good as the original.

well those 3d renditions are just fantastic. They're just as stunning as the Sam & Max 2 renders in my opinion. He's done an amazing job turning the 2d art into 3d. Just look at the hotel interior and the windmill. wow.

I have an idea: why doesn't LEC sell some of it's lightsabers and hire this guy. Let him work on the MI sequel, and when it's done, decide if the current marketplace realities allow a release

Looks amazing.

What would be sweet is a 2d version of grim fandango.

Wow this crazy man is making a complete 3d model of blood island all by himself! (yes it's 1 guy not "some guys")

Amazing. Awesome.

A cell shaded version of sam and max would be awesome!

Off-topic, but it's quite funny that in Far Cry (FPS), you can choose your rendering mode; you can choose (besides default): enhanced, paradise, cold and.. cell-shaded! It actually looks ok (alot like XIII), except for islands beyond 500m. If they ever finish S&M:FP, I guess it wouldn't be all that hard to incoorporate an option for cellshaded rendering.
