Hotel Dusk sequel confirmed
Last Window - Mayonaka no Yakusoku
(Last Window - Midnight Promise) System: DS Developer: Cing Japan Release: January 14 2010 Not much is known, expect that it will be set in LA in the 80s, and looks like Kyle is back! Awesome stuff indeed. Another Code R was good, but this is the Cing sequel i've been waiting. Nintendo had better localise this!

Please, please, please let Hotel Dusk have sold enough copies to make this a cert for translation/local release.
I do so love my DS adventures. |

Yay!
I was sort of expecting another Hotel Dusk game to be set during Kyle's days as a police officer, though. |

According to VG Chartz, Hotel Dusk sold 410,000 copies (Japan 220,000 and America 190,000), but that's not even including Europe. I can only imagine it sold roughly the same amount in Europe as it did in America, if not better (I read somewhere that Cing games tend to sell better in Europe, hence the lack of Another Code: R in the US) meaning the majority of Hotel Dusk sales came from outside of Japan. It seems a localization would definitely be worth it.

Ohmygodohmygod!
I just read this elsewhere and came straight here to see if there was any news at adventure gamers. There are a couple of games out there (none adventures) that I have been sort-of looking forwards to, but this makes me want to jump around and dance and stuff! Kyle still looks kinda downtrodden on the cover there, though, poor guy! I'm going to have to play Hotel Dusk again. Yeah!!!!!!

Never played the original, but is this sort of like Tex Murphy? I noticed the 3d environments and immediately thought about the UAKM and Pandora Directive.

The environments are very well done for a DS game. You walk around in real-time 3D from a first-person view, unlike most other adventure games on the system. Characters are represented by black & white animated sketches that pour with emotion. In fact, I think they're traced from real people so in that way it is a bit like Tex Murphy. The game has a rather serious, noir-inspired tone, with really intriguing characters; each one is like a little case to solve in and of themselves. Fantastic game.

This year I played 26 adventure games - 20 of them were on my DS. I bought 24 adventure games this year - 18 were DS games. Hotel Dusk was my 2007 adventure game of the year - an amazing story. This year Thersia: Dear Emily on the DS was my adventure game of the year. A gripping game I really liked. PC adventure games are still going well, I loved Memento Mori quite a bit - but the DS is the perfect platform for adventure games and they are a blast to play on it. Hotel Dusk 2 will be a must buy for me - I can't wait to get my copy.

I join the chorus of the enthusiasts! I can't wait to play the sequel, and I'd very much like to see some screenshots!

Is there any reason you're saying it could be DSi only based on what they've said, because if that happens I will be ANGRY!

It's known that it will be compatible with the Rumble Pak. Thankfully that means it won't be DSi exclusive, since the DSi has the GBA cartridge slot removed.

A very very short gameplay clip of the game:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0seNknYoIc#t=4m59s Looks like more of the same, which isn't a bad thing. I'm hoping to see more open environments to explore, rather than just corridors like in the first game.
