Playstation 2 Games
Hi ya'll
I'm currently travelling and living overseas so am without a PC but managed to pick up a cheap Playstation 2 not long ago. I'm without a doubt, a huge RPG/Adventure game fan and was wondering if anyone can provide some suggestions of games I should pick up. So far I've managed to track down and play the Monkey Island series, Syberia which was brilliant and I've also just purchased the latest Broken Sword game. There just seems to be a lacking when it comes to decent adventure games for consoles. Any suggestions?! E |

It depends on what you mean with "overseas" as there are different games out for PAL and NTSC regions...
There's a list here somewhere. I'll help you search tomorrow if you haven't found it by then. Also, don't forget the PS2 is fully backwards compatible so you can also play all the PS1 adventures (e.g. most of the Cryo adventures) -edit- start with this thread, for example http://adventuregamers.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=18194

Thanks!
I'm in New Zealand so I'm working with PAL. I'll have a scan of the list and see what I can come u with. It's just a shame the adventure genre is so lacking on console. Cheers! |

1. Myst III: Exile
2. Myst III: Exile 3. Myst III: Exile 4. Myst III: Exile You should also probably go for Beyond Good & Evil, even though it isn't a "real" adventure game. |

I second the vote for Beyond Good & Evil.
There really aren't many pure adventures for the PS2 (Shadow of Destiny, and all the ports mentioned above, plus Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit). But if you're open to a little bit more variety, there are many excellent games with one foot in the adventure genre, such as: Beyond Good & Evil ICO (and then Shadow of the Colossus if you like ICO) Psychonauts Okami |

OMG. You're an RPG/adventure fan and you are getting a PS2? The possibilities are endless!!!!! Okay...I am just gonna recommend a few games. I have chosen these games because of their story and atmosphere:
Shadow of Destiny Final Fantasy X(rpg) Okami ICO and SotC Persona 4(rpg) Silent Hill 2(great story) Dark Cloud 2(rpg) Dragon Quest VIII(rpg) There are too many good games for the PS2 really....I suggest going to gamespot.com and find a listing of PS2 games ranked on score and play every game that interests you above a 7.5 |

If you don't mind combat, I would recommend the Silent Hill series for stories, atmosphere and the gameplay - though there is combat - revolves more around exploration and puzzling and less on combat.

Echo Night Beyond is a 100% adventure game for PS2.
I don't see an Adventuregamers review, but there is a review by Aya at JA+ I think I liked it better than he did, though I agree with him about that part on the moon's surface where you have to move really slowly. That was tedious. |
