Default Neutral Monkey Island 5 art poll

Hi, just to redeem the unclarity of the last poll, I'd suggest we poll it as such:

Do you like the graphical style in the screenshots we've seen so far of Tales of Monkey Island?
* Yes
* No
* Not great but good enough (thanks, Jackal!)
* Unsure / don't know

Another option should be added: 'It's alright'

As soon as you leave Yes/No you pretty much dilute the result (all you will achieve is a meaningless sit on the fence result)

Myself, I'd prefer it not to look like this:

http://www.adventuregamers.com/screenshot.php?id=10143

where the characters are shaded relatively realistically, but rather like this:

http://cache.kotaku.com/assets/resou...f2_soldier.jpg

or this:

http://www.the-nextlevel.com/preview...d_waker_11.jpg

where the shading is more specific and results in cleaner shaded-or-not-shaded transitions.

Apart from the characters themselves, I think the look of the game is good, it's primarily the characters I would hope would get a brush-up (and new shader algorithm) before launch.

Not that it would matter for my sale, of course, I bought the game yesterday, but still.

Ooooh. Yeah, that would be the best kind of brush-up.

Why not ditch Telltale and work with Autumn Moon instead, they seem to get it right.

Well obvious that doesnt look phenomenal but Telltales most satisfying adv. maker on the market.I'm sure well see pretty satisfying action on screen and consider to make possible to game run on wide array of systems game's graphics decisions practically justifiable.

Of course, but you can eat the cake and have it if you make the graphics scalable. A game such as MI surely deserves it, no?

Also, the original MI from way back has more atmosphere than what Telltale is making. If you're going 3D make it good and scalable for the older systems, something that isn't hard with a 3D engine.

Not sure why need that atmosphere this will be a comedy,parody,jolly style game that doesnt rely on atmosphre.Generally thrillers or horhor style lives up with atmosphere.(Btw game you liked have pre rendered backgrounds)

You can't be serious! Of course it relies on atmosphere, the heavy, musky pirate atmosphere, so that it can be made fun of. Have you played the earlier games?

Monkey Island 1, 2, 3, not so much 4. Number 2 has it all in my opinion.

I Voted!

"Not great but good enough".

But I'd liked to have had the option to vote "Great, but not enough purple".

Plenty Of Purple is absolutely essential to any transcendent gaming experience (as we all know, so maybe it goes without saying).

Anyway, "I Voted!" and would like a lapel button so that my co-workers will know I Voted! and will ask me how I Voted, which will give me the delicious chance to tell them that though I Voted! I will not be divulging what I Voted! for because it's rude of them to solicit such information even though I have, as you can see above, volunteered exactly what I Voted! for... It's really why I Vote!, so where is my button?

I am doing a signing down here in Burbank and was invited in by the lovely Emily Morganti and gaming legend Dave Grossman to see Telltale's "Tales of Monkey Island" yesterday at the E3 show.

Let me say "Tales of Monkey Island" is, without a doubt, a gorgeous game. Emily demonstrated Guybrush arriving in a wacky and quaint little pirate town with numerous graphic flourishes both in the artwork itself and the background animations. There is beautiful texture work and a "painterly" quality to the environments that we haven't seen in any other Telltale releases yet.

Aside from the fact that the game is being designed by professional designers with a track record in classic adventure game style, I think Telltale has already proven a worthy adventure gaming company.

In my opinion, they are quickly becoming the template for what a modern adventure game company should be. Games are awesome. Attention to detail on their branding and packaging. And a killer website. (I think I check it almost three times a day.)

I agree that graphics are important. This is the WHOLE package my friends! Who could ask for more?

I can't wait!
