LucasArts' Monkey Island 1 Special Edition
http://adventuregamers.com/newsitem.php?id=1899
High Def graphics (you can choose the old ones as well, in fact you can switch between the 2 at any time), new controls and voice work featuring the cast of CMI (works on the old visuals! as well). If you go to the about page on the official website (http://www.lucasarts.com/games/monkeyisland/) - it says Telltale - continuing the adventures of Guybrush. New MI game! *Edit: video on site says the cast of CMI are back!. And Ron Gilbert is in the interviews, so looks like he was involved in some way. *Edit 2: interface has verbs, just not on screen. You basically press something and they show up, you select on and the list goes away (all seen on the video on the website). When using the classic visuals, the old verbs UI shows up just where it should be! Last edited by mosdl; 06-01-2009 at 08:48 AM. |

It's like I woke up in another dimension.
EDIT: And Dominic back as Guybrush is awesome!

A true remake of the first game and a series of new ones? I must be dreaming.

LucasArts has seen the light! Will wonders never cease? Things are certainly looking up adventure-wise.

I'm looking forward to this a lot more than tales of MI tbh
Can't believe they've basically kept the old awful controls though, that's very disappointing 0.07 Does anyone know how much this is going to cost for PC? Last edited by J.H; 06-02-2009 at 03:46 AM. |

I'm hyped about the remake, never got around to play the first two MIs. Not sure about the MI tales - I hate the 3D visual style, just not my cup of tea. I'll probably play it anyway, though.

Same, I'm in the middle of playing MI1 atm but now that this is coming out soon I've stopped (I can't stand to play without voice acting lol) and will play this instead. I hope they do the same for MI2. I guess it all depends on the sales of this one.

I foresee and wrote years ago, if you dont have potency for creating new classics just revise classics with accessible options for new generations.(there are lot of great 2d ag.waiting for revival)Now finally MI series revives again and whole experience will enhance.

I am looking forward to this! Well whats great if you don't like the art style you can always switch to the old classic style.
Voice acting is a great factor aslong as its good quality! and a hint system (one of the reasons why I never cleared any monkey island as I always got stuck at some point). Even if I knew this was coming its funny how excited I got for this E3 announcement than for other games. |

Never been a huge MI fan, but this is GREAT news, my only complain is that it'll be a Download only release... I want a nice special edition box...
I hope they go with Full Throttle next...

That is to save money (download only) - if the game sells well, they may start releasing boxed versions and go do other classics.

I never played the original (just a little too dated to try it now), but this is perfect. I can't wait to give it a try.

I think the Hype-o-Meter needs updating.
