Default Looking for recommendation...

Hello everyone
I turn to you once again for a recommendation on an adventure game. I'll quote mysef for the kind of game I'm looking for:

2D Pre rendered backgrounds;
Point-and-click Interface;
Realistic setting;

What I mean by "Realistic Setting" is that it should be set in the current day (or near future/past), and shouldn't involve too far-fetched or supernatural events.
I also enjoy games centred not on puzzle solving (Myst-like), but on combining objects together and speaking to characters to solve problems (in the style of Monkey Island or Gabriel Knight).

I played all Myst and Atlantis games, but I didn't put them in the preceding list because they're not exactly the kind of game I'm looking for anyway...
Thank you very much
I realize those are some pretty strict boundaries.. so feel free to suggest games which are a bit out of them

Here's a list of the ones I've already played, and that are exactly the kind of games I'm looking for:

Gabriel Knight Series;
Syberia (both)
Secret Files: Tunguska;
Broken Sword series (except the last one, which doesn't work on my pc );
NiBiRu
Overclocked
The Moment Of Silence
Black Mirror
Undercover
Still Life

And the following are the ones I've already played but which aren't exactly what I'm looking for:

Most SCUMM games (I think I played all of them, not 100% sure);
a couple of Agatha Christie games (which I didn't like much)
Barrow Hill
Rhiannon
Sinking Island
Murder in the Abbey
both Runaway games

I'm looking forward for many games which are supposed to come out this year (Black Mirror 2, Adam Syndrome...) but I hope there is still something I can play these days... I'm beginnig to feel major withdrawal!

Thanks for any help

PS. Does anyone know if and when the advanced search filters will be available for the "Games A-Z" section of the site?

I think Still Life is the game you're looking for...

Yup!! It would be... if I hadn't forgotten to put it in the list because I've already played it

But yes indeed, that would've been an excellent suggestion, so thank you very much anyway ^^

Have you played Still Life and the two Runaway games?

Oops! Still Life has already been mentioned.
Maybe Art of Murder, released last year? It's not very good though.

I'd recommend you give The Lost Crown a go.

Hehe, don't worry, my fault
Art of Murder goes definitely into the "to try" list, thanks

I'm very interested in teh Perry Rhodan game (although it has a sci-fi setting which it seems you may be less interested in). but it looks pretty cool.

Longest Journey is a good older one as well.

And obviously there is a sequel to Tunguska.

Perry Rhodan and Dracula: Origin seem interesting, albeit not exaclty my favourite setting. Which isn't a good reason to not give them a try, though! Thanks

Oh yeah! But I thought it wasn't out in English yet... see, my German is definitely rusty. I can't wait to try it, though.

Wow, you´ve listed games I hate and games I love on your list.

Recommendations: Indiana Jones and Fate of Atlantis, Simon the Sorcerer Series, Sam & Max Episodes...

Hehe well, not all of them are really my favourite, I was just trying to let you understand what kind of graphics/control style I'm into

And thanks for your advice, but unfortunately I already played all of them, I guess I summarised them into the "Most SCUMM games" line (even if, I agree, Simon isn't strictly SCUMM)

Well, this year will also have sequels to both Secret Files(Q1) and Still Life(Q2). So that might be interesting for you.

Also, even though you're looking for something rather "down to earth", I would still propose The Longest Journey. (Not talking about Dreamfall here.) Great game that should be played by every point & click adventure fan, in my opinion. It includes both sci-fi and fantasy, plus it has some rather normal looking areas, too. It might not fit with your criterias, but you should definetly try it anyway.

I think the Tex Murphy series, although older, might be a good fit for what you're looking for if you haven't played them already.
