Warning! Pet Peeve Alert!

And the price is 39.99 Euros... that's 50 (fifty) US dollars. Why? Why? Why?

I have A Vampyre Story on preorder for $29.95 + $10 shipping. I'll be happy to wait another fortnight for the game... DVD, box and all.

That's a great price. In stock too! I'm in the Netherlands and I used to order many games from play.com. Not anymore. When the price is in pounds, they only deliver to a UK adress.

I was put off by the 39.99 Euros as well, but when I actually visited the Gamersgate page it was listed for $29.99, which is what I bought it for. *shrug*

Are you in the US? I went as far as checkout and then backed out without confirming the order, but the price was still 39.99 Euros.

Yeah I'm in the U.S.

$29.99 to 39.99 Euros seems like a bizarre conversion. I can't help but think it might be a mistake. Might be worth contacting the site about.

The conversion to Euros is not to blame, IMO it's a deliberate decision on the part of the publisher to charge Europeans more for the same product. In a couple of weeks the game will be available in brick-and-mortar stores in Europe for the usual retail price of 40-45 Euros. If potential buyers start downloading the game for far less, that will hurt European sales. It's called cannibalism in marketing jargon. We can't have that, can we...

It's not just A Vampyre Story. Goes for a lot of games, publishers, sites. Doesn't even matter where the game was developed. We also pay more for European games, often much more. There's nothing I can do about it, but I refuse to reinforce this policy. So I buy from US stores like InteractCD and I only download games when the site charges everyone the same price.

I can't beleive how incredibly slow the gamersgate download is.. I'm so eager to play this game. In the past I've cared about the box and manual but circumstances in my life have forced me to put more emphasis on experiences rather than anything tangible.

That's odd, I'm from Norway, and I didn't get any message telling me that.

Turns out I had an Alzheimer Lite moment....

[[ I didn't realize you could change pounds into euros. Should have used my own old Play.com link instead of someone else's.]]

I'll go stand in the corner for a while.

PS: What I said about gamersgate still stands.
