Kurufinwe & TimovieMan, thanks! That's exactly the kind of answers I was looking for. Unfortunately, based on what you are saying, it seems that those games just aren't for me. A pity... I will still finish the first one and maybe take a peek at the second one in the faint hope that I might start liking them all of a sudden.

I will certainly give Ghost Trick a shot. I'm just afraid that my experience with PW:AA has scarred me for life and might turn me off any other DS adventure games

You might want to check out Miles Edgeworth: Ace Investigations, a spinoff of the PW series. But the main PW entries have and always will be 'visual novels'.
