Places from Adv. Games you would like to live in or spent time at?

Sometimes we see places in adventure games where you feel like visiting or living, or at least spent some time at. I was just wonder where the fans would prefer to live from their favorite games.

I would like to spent a night or two in Saxton from the Lost Crown but not at the harbor cottage. Also spent some time at the mansion from the Black Mirror.

I would love to visit many of the Myst Ages, in particular:
- Village Island (Riven)
- Amateria (Exile)
- Teledahn and Eder Kemo (Uru)

Other memorable places:
- The cube office in Obsidian
- The pyramid from Riddle of the Sphinx
- the school from Keepsake

I second Black Mirror. The mansion garden and the village would be amongst such places, I guess. Also, the train station at the university from Syberia, and the train from Last Express. The locations in Riven were beautiful, those I'd love to visit as well.

None of the locations from more recent games I played have this kind of magic to them. Overclocked was too grey and boring, Tunguska looked too sterile, Treasure Island was just too 3D.

The Ireland of 'Atlantis 2' - the horse scene was magical.

The Paris of 'Broken Sword' one and two. I quite fancy being a 2D, cartoon character (some say I am already!) ... and I fancy Nicole!

Drew Blank's and Flux's mate in 'Toonstruck' ... if only so I can punch Fluffy Fluffy Bun Bun.

Lara Croft's gardener. Perhaps her Mellors :D Wouldn't mind getting lost in the maze with her. :D:D Sad, eh!

Funny no one wants to live in Saxton [from the Lost Crown] with me. Perhaps its too scary!?

A cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate in the cold Saxton night along with a good company (beautiful company preferred over the good one) should make it a good place to be at. This of course minus the ghosts.

I'd come with you to Saxton Sandman. I'm currently playing The Lost Crown and the village is beautiful.

Saxton is in part based on Polperro, Cornwall. So you can actually go visit it. ;) I was there once for a short holiday. A long time ago, but even so I recognized the harbour wall with the ladders and the forbidding-looking house. (!) The lighthouse is also somewhere in the area, I think.

I would still prefer the modified Saxton from the game. But since it does not exist Polperro seems like a better alternative. May be some day I would visit.

Btw I saw the pic of the church in Polperro and resembles the Northfield church.

Now we are talking. May be after Saxton we could visit Silent Hill. That is if get out alive. I'll be found dead with a heart failure, probably inside the Museum or outside the Harbor Cottage's bathroom.

Spire from Myst IV. My favorite gaming place yet.

Fien 06-14-2008 07:30 AM

Hey, that's great about the church! Don't remember it at all, unfortunately.

Here's the Scary House:

Well, I don't live too far away from Cornwall, so if you do go there, gives me a shout, I'll meet ya there and talk about adventure games with you over a couple of drinks.

As for mine, as I've always said when we've had this topic in the past, Atrus' house in Myst IV: Revelation. I've owned this game since just after it was first released and I still load it up and wonder about it every now and then.

Jacques l'aliéné 06-14-2008 12:51 PM

Polperro is fab! Go there nearly every year camping. Best pasties (and biggest!), in Cornwall and the best mackerel and bass fishing for miles. It's not spooky though. Wel-ll not THAT spooky! I'll have to play 'The Lost Crown'. Mevagissey, down the road, is cool too!

A Night in Blackwood Manor would be truly eerie! (Scratches Included) :-)
Of all the mansions in so many games this one has uniquely unforgettable atmosphere.

I liked all the locations in Dreamfall. Especially Zoe's home in Morocco.
