It's the harsh, cold reality, I'm afraid.

The Thread™ will die.

I wouldn't be suprised if this is the end for LucasArts adventure games. Sadly...

Atleast Sierra's last real involvement with adventure games was a classic and not some cancellation press release.

Well, they've still got plenty of time to cancel the new Larry game...

remixor: Yeah, but that doesn't look like it's shaping up to be a real adventure game though. Gabriel Knight III: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned is a nice legacy for Sierra Studios to finish on.

"After careful evaluation of current market place realities and underlying economic considerations, we've decided that this was not the appropriate time to launch a graphic adventure on the PC"
Okay...But, the game was also only a few months away from being released. So, why cancel it NOW when they've already spent so much money on it? Maybe they think it won't live up to the first, like Full Throttle 2. |

They won't release Sam and Max 2, yet they'll release shitty, poor selling games like RTX Red Rock and Wrath Unleashed.
If they didn't have the Star Wars games, they'd be screwed.

It's such a disgrace, they haven't even put it on their Lucasarts Headlines Bit, which makes me think they never really saw the game as much of a priority anyway.
This just isn't the same company that brought us all those amazing games. |

This blows.
Completely took me by surprise. I was really anticipating this game. I hereby shun Lucas Arts games forever (seriously). At this point, it really does seem like the adventure game genre is drawing its last breath. |

In the words of Guybrush Threepwood, "Well, darn."
I've been at school all day, so I just got a chance to read the news. Not the best news to come home to. I can see you guys have been talking quite a bit about it, though. As soon as I saw the news I just had to write a post about it on my site. I don't think I can really add anything to that, so I'll just share with you what I posted there: Quote:
