I bought it yesterday and finished it already.
It's VERY short and VERY easy.

The story is interesting and I had fun playing the game but it was very flawed. There were some very odd design decisions in the game.

Being a huge fan of the TV show, I wonder: is it an adventure or an action-adventure or something else?

Definitely more of an action adventure. I don't think it's quite as bad as the reviews and everyone else seems to think, I am having a lot of fun visiting places on the island from the show and interacting with the characters, I think the game pulls off what it set out to do, and deserves some merit for it.

the graphics are really good... but like others have said its very short. If you are a fan of the show then I might recommend it but otherwise it might be better to wait for it to go on sale.

Are there two different 'Lost' games now? One being more Action and this one Adventure?

No, just the one. While I agree that it does have some adventure aspects (character interaction, story and (albeit quite minor) puzzle solving), it just doesn't feel like an adventure game to me. I can't place what it is that makes me think that though.

I had the same problem, Dale. Even though the action doesn't dominate and the game gives you some classic adventure stuff to do, it doesn't feel like an adventure. Maybe it's the controls; they reminded me of a FPS. Maybe it was the boring interaction - you couldn't pick people's brains about the topics provided, you just went through some boring dialogue that meant nothing and didn't give you any useful information for most of the time. The characters were boring as well; I still think it's a real shame the developers didn't put more effort into the characters people know from the show. The puzzles were few, boring and repetitive; the fuseboxes are Lost's Broken-Sword-crates. The action sequences were annoying but even for unexperienced gamers, they were doable. The story was nice enough but failed to pull me in. Maybe the game tries to hard and that's why it fails; it does look good, it sounds good but the gameplay is just not what I expected.
Overall, I didn't enjoy this game. It was, in fact, hard work for me and no fun at all, due to some technical issues I encountered despite my computer meeting the basic requirements. Besides, when I found out about our "hero's" past, I wanted to make him go back to the jungle and make the smoke monster eat the guy. I can't remember playing such a nasty character before; didn't care for him at all and after finding out about his past, I didn't feel like helping the guy in his quest. In this respect, the ending was ok even though it left me confused and puzzled. |

Lets just say the least, just like the thread title, that this is the first Next Gen adventure game.
Now give me some good games please. ^_^ Still Life 2. |

I've seen the first three seasons of 'Lost'. Haven't started with the fourth yet. From the looks of things it looks like it's based on season two or three?

What they should of done was make this an episodic gaming series released every month.
They have the engine, they have the story, now they just need to find a place that will work like an episodic series. As it is now, its too short for a game that costs around $40. Also, the games should be downloadable only until the season is over, then like Telltale, release a combined pack. |
