i got the game last week and i'm enjoying it very much so far. (i'm not too far into the game, ch.2). i have never played the first black mirror.
pro: -beautiful background graphics -a lot of hints in your journal if you want them -seems like it may turn out to be an interesting and multi-layered mystery story -easy to navigate with map con: -sort of annoying character who always gives smart-ass comments |

Oh no, that can kill any game. What kind of smart-ass? Is to towards other carachters, or is it to the player (you)? For example; if you try to use something you shouldn't use there, or try to combine two things that doesn't fit? Or is it just smart-ass mumbeling, when he comments things he passes, or looks at or such? |

Yes, yes, yes, and yes. He is rude or mean to everyone and everything, in almost every situation.

This is the fall of the English speaking world. Every good adv. game 1st gets released in German or Polish or even Russian. It take ages to get it to the English language :@

The original character from "Black Mirror" did that to a certain extent, too.

Can't be worse than what's-her-name in Tunguska though. Do the game makers thinks it's funny? That the players love to hear (what they think) is smarty remarks. |

Well, it wouldn't be a Black Mirror game without an unlikable character.

Ten minutes in, and it seems like YES! this is the Black Mirror 2 I've been waiting for. The voiceacting is pretty good so far, a few sarcastic expressions were so well spoken they even made me giggle. Graphics are as nice as they could be with 3D-rendering, the animations are also better than usual. And the characters comment on the comments by the hero on stuff I clicked on - very unusual, but I like it.

Oooh, that's so exciting! Wish it was over here already. How's the story looking so far? The characters?

Seriously though, the four characters I've seen so far are quite cliché, but cliché nicely done. The sarcastic, intellectual youngster, his jerk chef, a war-obsessed antiques shopkeeper, ... wait, that's three. Well you get the idea. Also, the animation is not quite as great as it seemed, but well, that alright. |

Aww, a jerk chef? I'll always have a soft spot for Bates from the first game. Although, he was more of a butler than chef, but oh well. And yes, the first game seemed to move very slowly, too.

Black Mirror English Version
I got an email from dtp entertainment in Germany telling me that an English version of Black Mirror 2 will be available early in the new year. I have been told that it will only be available by download.

Just finished it, and overall I liked it a lot.
My thoughts: The first few chapters were slow, but enjoyable, even though I missed that Black Mirror feeling with gorgeous and moody backgrounds. The voice acting is superb, the puzzles might be too easy for some, but they made sense and didn't stop the flow of the game for me. I'm not playing it for the obscure "this is an ancient machine with strange symbols on it"-puzzles, I'm playing it for the atmosphere and the story. Speaking of the story, some aspects were obvious from the beginning, but some still caught me by surprise, which was a nice change from the first game. The latter chapters were my favorites. Some backgrounds were amazing, the soundtrack rarely kicked in, but was appropriate to the current story twists. The bad bit is the ending. Zero suspense, horrible outcome, way too much demonstuff and lava fire, boring final puzzle, not very convincing characters. What a let-down. Also, I forgot to take photos during the game, and now missing out on some artwork I'd really love to see. Gotta get a savegame for this or something, I don't intend to replay it anytime soon. |
