I hope that artwork doesn't represent the game.

That artwork would be cool for the game.

I agree. Sure, it could be cleaned up a touch, but I prefer that to the ultra-realism-yet-void-of-life style of many of today's adventure games.
That's just me though.

I like cartoons, too, but that image is not professional quality.

Personally, I don't know what I should think of it.
It's just not enough to make a judgement based on it. At least you would have to know how it looks in motion... |

I agree.. Sure simple graphics can look great if done well. These on the other hand look as if non or little effort went into their creation.
I hope this isn't the direction the game is headed, in this current climate of the way games are presented a game that looks like this would struggle to get non Monkey Island fans interested.. no matter how innovative and creative the game is. I hope it's just a placeholder or a joke on Rons behalf and Purcell, Chan and Tiller are actually working behind the scenes on something much more appealing and professional. : P |

I really have no clue why that is considered unprofessional. It's one piece of artwork that was described in our recent news item as a concept sketch.

I'd assume that a game like this will be carried by the writing, so I'm not worried about the graphics.

It's "unprofessional" for two reasons. 1) The eyes are terribly drawn, and not "good" terrible, but just bad. You can have a "rough" style and still look good. Those don't. 2) The shading is the style done by amateur artists who just got Gimp for the first time and went filter/blur crazy. Again, I don't mind, but those are the biggest reasons why it looks "unprofessional" as some people are saying.

Hmmm... gotta wonder about the game itself though. Will it be yet another standard rpg? Goodness knows we've got tons of them and only a few of them are ever that interesting.
If it's a satirical play on rpgs, I'll bite. Otherwise, whatever.

I don't think that's been confirmed yet. We'll see.

I actually like the concept art, proving once again that I have really bad taste.

Looks amusing, in a slightly warped, demented sort of way.

Glad everyone already hates this game. Hopefully Gilbert will pack it up and go back to updating his blog about Monkey Island on the iPhone.
