Blackwell Unbound
Just wanted to make a new thread for this excellent game, it deserves one. Try it, it's very good. Sort of a mix between Raymond Chandler and Woody Allen in AGS-land.

I've just finished the first playthrough this evening. Great story, pretty decent closing music too.
Something bugs me, though: Spoiler: Spoiler:

Hi adfegg
Don't know. That's how it ended for me too. But I do wonder like you if there's an alternative solution, although I very much enjoyed this laconic somewhat non-hollywoodesque ending. |

Amazing game! I loved both Blackwell Legacy and Blackwell Unbound. I've only seen one ending and it's the one you mentioned. Still, great game.

Judging from the concept art, I now think that ending is pretty integral to the next game.

Just finished. Great game, as always from Dave. The only bad part is now we have another year + to wait before Blackwell Convergance comes out. Hopefully it's just as good as these first two...

I loved it.
It answered some questions, yet it raised a whole lot more. Now I'll have to wait forever for Convergence to maybe answer some of my questions. There were also a few plotholes like: Spoiler: About the ending: Spoiler: Also, did anyone else try searching for easter eggs in the phonebook? |

Yup... Names I found that worked (Well, gave more than the standard answer): "Dave Gilbert", "Chris Jones", "Rosangela Blackwell". I'm sure there's a few more.

Rabbi Stone, Erin Robinson, Mavis Wilcox, Isaac Brown.
I was mildly disappointed there wasn't one for Nishanthi Sharma.

Not to forget Joey Mallone.
Honestly, that was one of the greatest adventures I played in some time. It was so emotional like Syberia, the writing was brilliant and the gameplay just fun. It's probably one of the few commercial adventures I solved without a hint. Great! It's really an extraordinary game. Wonderful soundtrack that creates an melancholic atmosphere and fits in every scene, sometimes it's even integral. The graphics are good too, though I think that the background on Roosevelt Island looks a bit weird (the lights and the bridge in the background). And the writing made all the characters believable and human. It was a dramatic story, but I'm thankful that Dave didn't overdramatise it, which makes the emotional impact of the story even bigger. |

A quick fix, but exactly what I need: logical puzzles and a good storyline. It improves in many ways over The Blackwell Legacy, but the complete package feels a little less polished than the previous one. Lauren Blackwell is a great character.

How do, everyone? I'm the dude who plays Joey in the games, Abe Goldfarb. I'm kinda humbled that something I worked on with Dave has gotten such a fabulous response. So, you know...thanks. Shany, about that supposed plothole regarding Mitchell, it's a matter of documented fact; Mitchell didn't write a word for the New Yorker from 1964 until his death in 1996, and he remained in their employ the entire time. It's a hell of a story, and if you want another great dramatization of it, check out Joe Gould's Secret, a film by Stanley Tucci.

Which you'd know if you played through the commentary.

Yeah, I posted my comment before playing with commentary.
I realized the commentary would explain about most of the things I mentioned right after I posted. Also, thanks for voicing Joey, Abe. He's an awesome character. |

Seems like Abe has fallen into the depths of adventure game geekdom. Welcome!
I'm also glad to see this game getting such a nice response! To answer BT's concern about Convergence, it will be significantly less than one year before it comes out. I don't want to announce a specific time/date until I'm positive, but a chunk of work has already been done on it so I estimate a shorter waiting period this time around And Abe, um, Mallone has two L's. -Dave |

I don't have those powers, unfortunately. If he PM's tabacco or Jackal, they'll be able to change it.

Hey, look, it's fixed! Was it me or was it... the real Joey Mallone?? (da da daaaah)
Welcome, Abe. And Dave, looking forward to checking out the new game. Haven't had the chance yet, though. |
