Black Mirror 2 developer
I was disapointed to say the least, when I heard, that Unknown Identity is not developing Black Mirror 2. I am beginning to fear that the wonderful interface and artful 2D graphics may be pushed aside from yet another crappy 3D gameworld and worse interface than in the original. But since I haven't seen any screenshots, I still have hope left.
Black Mirror 1 was one of the top games when it came to graphics and interface. Now with a new developer, I have this awful feel that everything's going to chance. In my opinion: Every *beep* sequel in the series should be developed on the same interface and the same game engine. For Example Broken Sword 3 was really disapointment for me, because of that. What thougts this arises in you, dear adventurer mates? Last edited by MoonBird; 08-26-2007 at 03:23 AM. |

All things I would NOT want to see in adventure game can be found in this screenshot. Too close-up look (means camera changes or 3D world), squarish edges of things, uninspired mood... It's a pity. Of course... *if* this is from introsequence or animation, it could be okay... But this leaves the question... are prerendered backrounds dying a slow but certain death? Is realtime 3D really the only option? Last edited by MoonBird; 08-26-2007 at 03:32 AM. Reason: addition |

It's an early techdemo, so it's not representative for what the game will look like in its final form.
I'm not so sure if it was a good idea show it at GC, though. |

I had exactly the same thoughts as you, MoonBird. I thought too Black Mirror was a beautiful game, and I was looking forward to the sequel by Unknown Identity, and to see how their experience had grown.

As far as I know the interface will be the same as in Black Mirror 1 - no keyboard or whatsoever interface.

Yes, well, of course it still *is* a 3rd person point & click, but my point was, that it might be just a bit too different comparing to the it's predecessor.

Agreed. The original Black Mirror has a wonderful atmosphere, mainly owing to its truly stunning 2D graphics. The gardens of the Welsh manor, in particular, have a beautiful look and feel to them. In my opinion, this new screenshot looks pretty soulless in comparison.
