Post every adventure game you've finished

I apologize if everyone is sick of lists, and if you are, please feel free to ignore this one. I did a Forum Search first and it seemed the last thread to talk about this was four years ago, so I figured it was safe to bring it up again.

Now me, I love lists. :D That's why I can just copy and paste from my Adventure Games Excel spreadsheet with ease to start this topic. I've got 61 total, if you count KQ8. Only three are for platforms other than the PC (two for NES, and one for DS, labelled below) -- but when I have time, I should be adding a few more DS games on there.

Typical Cancerian, me. I tend to start things and then get bored with them. So although my "played" list is extremely long, my "finished" list is pathetic. Here all the adventures I can remember playing to a conclusion, in rough chronological order:

Some of the Scott Adams adventures, but I can't remember now which I finished and which I gave up on or never played.
Planetfall
Zork 1
Metal Mutant, if you consider it an adventure
D-Generation, if you consider it an adventure
The Chaos Engine, if you consider it an adventure
Myst
Shivers
Phantasmagoria 2: A Puzzle of Flesh
Physicus
Monkey Island 1

...and that more or less takes us from the 1970s to a couple of months ago. There may be a few others that I've forgotten.

EDIT: I forgot The 7th Guest and The 11th Hour, again on the fringe of what I would call adventures, but they seem to be accepted here.

I've made a vow that I'll try harder to avoid starting new games until I finish what I'm playing.

Wizard Of Odd 08-06-2007 02:42 AM

Hah, not many for me.

All 4 Monkey Island games
All 3 Gabe Knight games
Sam and Max Hit The Road
Day Of The Tentacle
Full Throttle
The Dig
Discworld Noir
All 4 Broken Sword games
In Memoriam

Hmmm... Any more? Can't think now.

GAMES STILL PLAYING THROUGH :

The Longest Journey
Evidence : The Last Ritual

DustyShinigami 08-06-2007 03:38 AM

Here's my list:

Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror
Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon
Broken Sword: The Angel of Death

The majority of these i used a walkthrough on. :frown: ;(

I think that's the whole list anyway. God, even though it feels like i've completed a LOT of adventure games, looking at the list it isn't really that big. Now i'm having second thoughts on posting this... oops too late *runs away to hide*.

Wow! Greyfuss and Colpet are super-players. But I can't believe how few Sierra games are on everyone's lists so far... I'd always assumed games like King's Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Quest For Glory, etc. -- were like the essential Adventure games. Sierra games were what got me into Adventures in the first place, but I guess it's different for everyone.

LOL, not "super-player" Dantebk, just been playing since 1995.

When I think of classic Sierra games I think of the following Sierra games that got me into Adventures...

Lighthouse: The Dark Being
Phantasmagoria
Phantasmagoria 2: A Puzzle of Flesh
Shivers
Shivers 2: Harvest of Souls
Rama
Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within

True, the Adventure genre is the most diverse in taste and might be why we are so hard to please as a whole. I was not interested in any of the Quest or Larry games.

Me too, when I was 14. :D Just took a few years off every once in a while or I'd have more on my list.

I even remember, back in the day, I had to write a letter to Sierra to ask them how to get past some of the tricky bits in Quest for Glory 4. It was cheaper than the hintline, but it took a while... I don't know how many letters the first Gabriel Knight game made me send...

Hey, don't sweat it. I don't always use a walkthough, but I often do, and I almost always need at least a few hints. This isn't a challenge or competition for me, it's stress relief; and while it's often stress relieving to solve a difficult issue, sometimes enough is enough.

kinetickyle 08-10-2007 07:11 PM

Yes, a super-player. Lordy, I've been playing since 1980 or thereabouts, and I've certainly completed less than 20 games.
