Help choose which game I play next!
I know this is pointless and self-serving...
... and a waste of everyone's time... ... and I feel bad about that, I really do... ... but hey! Help me choose which game to play next! :D Right now I'm on Chapter 10 of The Longest Journey, but I'm already looking ahead at what to do next. My favorite AGs are the Monkey Island series, the Quest For Glory series, the Gabriel Knight series, and King's Quest VI. Thanks y'all... |
This is soooooo easy!
Beneath a Steel Sky... Amazon Queen... :r Legend of Kyrandia 1... haven't played it :P Runaway.... :Z Grim Fandango... :9~ :7 |
I like the poll! :) It makes it easier to help.
Also, if you have a gamepad (or an XBox or PS2 controller with a USB plug), that will help in navigating Manny. The gamepad made the game much more enjoyable for me. :) Oh, and definitely play Kyrandia 1 at some point too. But remember to save early/save often! |
Haven't played the others. But I played Grim Fandango just a few months ago for the first time. It was amazingly good for an older game, with qualities rarely surpassed in newer games.
|
Grim! Grim! Grim! :D
|
I say, play Grim Fandango first and then Beneath a Steel Sky. They're both great games. :)
|
Wow, Grim Fandango with 76% of the vote so far. Really dominating! Thanks for indulging me guys / gals!
I should've known since it's one of the highest rated games (of any genre) of all time that Grim would do so well. Is it weird that I'm really nervous to play it? I always feel this way when I'm about to start a game that's supposed to be that super-amazing. Does anyone else get the best-game-ever jitters? TLJ update: Just got to Chapter 12. Almost done... I think. |
World of Warcraft
*runs* |
Do yourself a favor, go buy Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, and play through it next. It's the sequel, and you'll appreciate it more with TLJ's storyline fresh in your head.
|
Once you've done Grim, for ease in controls and great atmosphere, I suggest Syberia 1, an exceptional game with high ratings.
Grim Fandango took a few minutes to get used to on my PC … but it is an awesome game in terms of atmosphere, puzzles and storyline … the voice acting is the best I’ve heard anywhere. Ugly Betty’s dad is the actor (he seems lots younger in the game)who plays the lead character. Dreamfall has a different flavor than TLJ. It attempts to be an action/adventure game and is only part one of a two-part game that will be completed via incremental chapters on-line in two or more years. |
I'm not a big fan of Grim Fandango, but from the options listed, GF is the best choice...
So, go out and buy Dreamfall :) |
I know what you mean about best-game-ever jitters dantebk. For a while now I have been thinking of picking up a copy of the original Broken Sword but I fell nervous about it because the game is supposed to be so good.
|
Yeah, I went into Broken Sword 1 expecting greatness, but it bored the life out of me. It's a very linear story that is revealed in a precise order. There is hardly any interaction besides pixel-hunting and inventory combining.
|
The Longest Journey is a good game, but I'm not enjoying it as much as I think most of you did. It seems a bit long-winded, and the story can be obtuse, so while I appreciate why some of you suggest Dreamfall -- I could frankly use a break from this world.
(no votes at all for Runaway or Flight of the Amazon Queen -- I'd heard these were good? no?) |

I voted for Beneath a Steel Sky because I assumed everyone would vote for Grim Fandango. It depends in what kind of mood you're in though. If you want something more upbeat, then Grim Fandango is certainly the way to go. Don't pass up on BaSS though, that game is totally kickass.
|
Just finished TLJ. No spoilers but the ending confused me a bit.
Guess I'll start on Grim soon. Just read the review on this site though and a little concerned. 45 to 50 hours? I really hope that's not true. I don't care how awesome it is, that is way too many hours to be in one game. |
I don't know about everyone else here but I actually prefer playing the best games last, and starting with the crappiest games first. If you were to do it in this order then I'd play 'Flight of the Amazon Queen' first and 'Grim Fandango' last. :P
|
Well, you're not going to know what you find best and crappiest until you play them, eh?
|
I think you should play them all, in time! ;)
But do start off with Grim Fandango, as it is definatily one of the best games I have ever played. I think it's one of those games that are really close to perfection. |
