Default Did any thought whatsoever go into the new Space Quest Collection?

I've been finding the Space Quest games pretty frustrating as I play through the collection. The parser not understanding me and running into dead ends were annoying, and I still don't understand how I was supposed to know at the end of SQV which system to go to and which floor of the ship I needed to be on, but at least those problems were just as difficult in the original release.

Now it turns out that to complete the sixth game I need to look at clues in the Janitorial Times, a booklet included in the original box, but not present in this collection. Thank goodness for hints and walkthroughs.

I just bought the (new) space quest collection. And I didn't know this, OP.
Thanks for telling me When I get to play these games, I will definitely look up the hints and walkthroughs for these games.

Many older games, such as text adventures and space quest (and King's Quest, too??) did enclose a booklook that you had to look in just to be able to finish the game. And it was a very good copy protection, scheme.

Unfortunately most of the old Sierra adventure games are like this. They are nearly impossible to complete without resorting to a walkthrough. I'm surprised they didn't put the booklet in the new collection though.

Whoops, I just edited my original post because I failed to mention that it's only SQ6 that needs the Times. Other than that the copy protection is included in the pdf manual. However, SQIV suffers from "timing issues" at one point which makes it impossible to complete without messing about in DOSBox's config file. There's an old thread on these boards somewhere about it.

Oh, I found the document online and solved the puzzle; I just wanted to moan. I'd install the patch, but it was awkward about which folders you use and anyway I'm nearly done.
