[Completed]Game Giveaway : Day of the Tentacle
I always keep an eye out in charity shops for good games in order to save them from an unappreciative audience. Once again Barnardos (the only one that seems to have grasped game CDs and music CDs are not the same thing) has come up trumps because they had a copy of this. (Check out the AG review)
. Purple tentacle has drunk some of Dr Fred's toxic waste. gaining arms and an overwhelming megalomania in the process Sadly an attempt to fix the problem using Dr Fred's toilet based time machine (the Chronojohn) hurls three friends into three different time periods past, present and future. An absolute classic with a unique set of puzzles that are only possible with the three time period setup. Also this includes the original Maniac Mansion game (it's on a computer in the present section) so you can have a proper retro gamefest. Best of all, I'm giving it away for nothing, already having a copy myself. CD only but that's hardly a concern in the circumstances. OK, the ground rules. You must have been a member of these forums for at least a month up to today (sorry newbies and lurkers. maybe next time I find something) You must be prepared to PM me a mailing address if you win. Doesn't have to be a home one, just somewhere I can send it to. I will consider worldwide shipping. This game will not run directly under XP and I suspect it won't run under Vista either. I've successfully run it in DOSBox and ScummVM should be able to handle it as well. If you don't feel comfortable using these programs to run the game, please don't put your name forward. To enter the draw post that you wish to be included in this thread. Make sure you specifically state you wish to be included to distinguish from people making comments or asking questions. One entry per person. I will be checking for people putting their name in twice in the hope I won't notice so don't try it. Clsoing date for entries is 12:00 midday UK time next Sunday (15th July). At that time (or as near as I can make it) a winner will be chosen at random and notified by PM as well as announced in this thread. Members of AG staff are prohibited from entering (Kidding. But no special weighting for you guys in the draw ) Best of luck all.

Wow. That's a really great find--I've been keeping an eye out for this game for a while and still have had no luck. You know, if this does end up requiring international shipping, you could always request that the receiver pay for it. That would only be fair, and I know I would be willing to.
So I guess I'm saying count me in--I'd love the chance to play this classic. |

What a great find, and a fantastic offer! I won't be entering the contest as I already have the game. I just in the last couple of weeks loaded it up in ScummVM and it plays beautifully on my XP.
I asked Martin Gantefohr once (from House of Tales--Mystery of the Druids, Moment of Silence, and the upcoming Overclocked) what his favorite adventure game of all time was, and it was Day of the Tentacle. This is a GREAT game, and it's no slouch in the puzzle department. Cheers! |

Woho, great find! This is one of the Lucasart games I've really been wanting to try, so I would love to participate in the draw.

I have this game and I gave up on it because I got so horribly stuck. Hopefully I'll get back to it one day.
