Some recommendations for games

I've just joined up here, but I've got the bug to play more adventures and I'm looking for some recomendations. I like normal adventures, not the Myst style games.

I'll list what I've got at present so that there's no duplication.

Broken Sword 1,2 and 4
Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit
Blade Runner
Runaway 1 and 2
Tunguska
A Moment of Silence
Sherlock Holmes Case of the Rose Tattoo (despite it crashing)
Gabriel Knight 3
Midnight Nowhere
I've also ordered Nightlong from Ebay

And maybe one or two others. I'd appreciate any recommendations. Also, does anyone know if the episodic Sam and Max is coming out in the UK in a disc format. Play.com has a Sam and Max game listed as forthcoming, but no details.

That's a great description!

It's difficult to know what current stuff to recommend, because there's not been a real 'classic' for ages.

There's the Ankh games.
Still Life.
The Longest Journey

Then there's all the old Lucasarts classics.
Grim Fandango
Monkey Island 1-4
The Original Sam+Max
Day of the Tentacle
Full Throttle
The Dig

Ah, I'm not comfortable doing this. I'll let someone more qualified take over.

Maybe it wasn't the best description, what I mean is traditional 'point and click' style, rather than the Myst style which are usually more obscure puzzles. Though I'm not above games like Grim Fandango which arent the older point and click controls.

Oh I also have Dreamfall and Longest Journey.

No, I wasn't complaining, I agree with you entirely! Myst games aren't normal!

Gabriel Knight 1 & 2
Discworld 1 & 2
Discworld Noir
Beneath a Steel Sky
The Black Mirror
Syberia 1 & 2
Simon the Sorcerer 1 & 2

How could I forget?! I'm sorry, I said I wasn't comfortable. It's too much pressure telling someone what to spend their hard earned cash on.

Had, but no longer have. :(

Had, but loaned out, and have yet to get them back.... ;(

Discworld 1 & 2
Again, I had these, but no longer, the PC versions are difficult to get now, but Gamestation is a good place to watch

Discworld Noir

Beneath a Steel Sky
I used to have this one, I understand its freeware now?

Syberia 1 & 2
I've got the Syberia collectors pack.

Simon the Sorcerer 1 & 2
I've played the first of these many years back, I'll keep an eye out for them.

So far so good.

You buy alot of games without playing them? You take the whole adventure game collecting to a whole new level... ; - )

Jadefalcon 05-27-2007 01:34 PM

Most of the games I played before, I've since sold, there's none I bought that I haven't played though.

Okay, I managed to get Crime Stories and the first two Delaware St John games at a decent price, that should keep me going in adventures for a little while.

I would really like to be the second one who recommends Still life!

Jadefalcon 05-29-2007 08:06 AM

I'm trying to get Still Life, the Xbox version is common enough, the PC version less so.

Importantly (IMO):
Agatha Christie: murder on the orient express, Broken Sword series (!), In Memoriam or Missing since January (!!!), Sanitarium (!!!), Sherlock Holmes The Awakend, Sherlock Holmes The case of silver Earring..

Umm...Silent Hill 2.

That's all I got.
