Simon the Sorcerer 4
Hi all!
Is anyone else playing Simon 4? I really like it so far although I haven't played any of the other games in the series. From what I have read that might be a good thing in the case of the third game though.. I live in Germany so I am playing the german version, does anyone know if it has come out in the States or the UK? |

Welcome to the forums.
No English dates have been announced yet (or for other countries), so I'm afraid people in Germany are essentially the only ones playing it now -- which may account for the lack of discussion here.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
We're still waiting for the english version to be released The (supposed) release date is Q2 2007 so that should be about now! I indeed didn't like the 3rd game but that was because of the amount of walking you had to do (distance wise) ...

I've got a feeling Simon the Sorcerer 4 is going to be one of those games that will be postponed all the time, it wouldnt suprise me if we'd have to wait till August before the english release.
I really liked the the last game despite all the frustrating mini games. It was still a great game. But definetly not for someone with high bloodpreasure. |

Thanks for the welcome
I have lurked around here for awhile and enjoy reading the discussions people have. I'm American but have lived here in Germany for the past three years and was pleasantly surprised to see that most adventure games come out here earlier or around the same time as America. (Unlike movies, game consoles, books... )
What I have played so far in Simon 4 has been pretty amusing and I am just hoping the English version will have better voice work then Tunguska did. About the game: I have only played it for an hour. (Just got it today). From what I have played so far I can say that, the graphics look great, colorful not too cartoony, well done. The storyline is o.k.-but I am not far enough in the game to really comment on it. The characters are good although when characters speak their mouths never match up to what they are saying. I had read that Simon was very mean or obnoxious in one of the games but he seems to be a normal sarcastic teen in this one. I actually have been enjoying the dialogue so much that I don't just read and click through it which I normally do a lot. The puzzles up until now have been inventory but once again have only played for an hour. Last edited by träum_was_schönes; 04-04-2007 at 04:05 AM. Reason: Edited to add info about the game |

Anyway, I've read some of the german reviews and the game seems a winner! Can't wait...

I didn't even know it was released! (I mean, not even that it was released only in Germany)
Does it live up to the first 2 games? --Erwin

And more importantly, does it live up to the third? (With its flaws, still the best in the series.)

I get cold shivers when I even try to remember StS 3...
The first two, ahh those two were classics. I remember playing at least 50 times through the demo of the first one on my Amiga 500 back in the day.

According to IGN, it will get an US release in 2008, through PlayLogic. They're based in Europe, so maybe they're going to release the English-language version there as well. I hope so.

I get anxious when other people get to play a game that I don't. In regards to SS3, I thought it was pretty tacky and alltogether poor. One and two were very enjoyable.

I played 1 and 2 but (thankfully) skipped 3. I won 4 a few weeks ago. I really liked it. I wouldn't say it's as good as 1 and 2 but if you enjoyed those, you will probably like this one too.
