Adventure games with cartoon graphics and/or conspiracy theme

Im looking for some adventuregames with cartoonish graphics. And preferably with humorous or conspiracyrelated themes. I would appreciate any help you could give me.

Some of the adventure games in this "genre" that I have truly enjoyed are:
- Monkey Island (the whole series)
- Broken Sword 1 & 2 (even though I didnt mind 3 and 4)
- The Longest Journey and Dreamfall (Conspiracy; well, not really, but they are some of the best games Ive played)
- Full Throttle
- Moment of Silence (enjoyed the conspiracypart of the game)
- Toonstruck! (fantastic!)
- Runaway 1 & 2
- Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy)

I would be very grateful if someone were to help me find some more games like the ones mentioned above.

Thank you for your help :D

Kurufinwe 03-24-2007 02:36 PM

Welcome to the forums, fredmania. :)

You might want to have a look at the Discworld games (1, 2 and Noir). They're fun and very good, though the first two are insanely hard.

Secret Files: Tunguska has conspiracy elements and nice graphics (though not cartoony), but there are some caveats (see the review).

I'm sure there are many more, but nothing pops to mind at the moment.

Erwin_Br 03-24-2007 03:38 PM

Cartoony and Conspiracy you say? May I suggest Sam and Max: Episode One by Tell Tale Games! :)

It will correct the problem with picking up the crank.

Exuse me, but Fahrenheit isn't definitely in that "genre".
No cartoonish graphics.
No humor.
(I hate that "genre" of yours, and when you say like this cartoonish graphics and with humor - that's insult!)

Erwin_Br 03-25-2007 10:51 AM

Humor is, indeed, despicable.

Shoal 03-25-2007 11:39 AM

Yeah, I'm going to have to go with Hysteria on this one. Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) is definitely not meant to be cartoony or funny. Maybe you were just throwing that one in to fulfill the whole "conspiracy" requirement you were going for?

Draco2.5 03-25-2007 12:24 PM

What about Legend games like Death Gate, Shannara, Callahan's Crosstime saloon and Champions of Xanth? You guys think those would qaulify as so called cartoon adventure games?

That was indeed what I was going for Shoal. I did not mean to list the games above in "one" specific genre. I was merely trying to give you all a number of games Ive found enjoyable.

In reply to Kurufinwe and Nautilus, I have already played Gilbert Goodmate and all the Discworld games (Noir is great!). I may give Secret Files: Tunguska a try and definately Flight of the Amazon Queen. I think Ill wait a while with Sam & Max, until season one is released.

Thanks alot for the help guys and keep em coming if you have some more games for me to try. :)

I tried to look up the games youve mentioned, but I only found Callahans Crosstime Saloon. It looked the part, but I am firstly looking for 3rd person adventure games. Thanks for the tips though

I have also played Grim Fandango. Loved it.

Draco2.5 03-25-2007 01:46 PM

Oh ... 3rd person you say? Have you played any of the Kyrandia games? They're fantasy but they also have a rather funny/sarcastic tone about them.

Kyrandia 1 is nice, except for the damn coloured gems puzzle! :p

vivasawadee 03-25-2007 04:50 PM

I think Leisuresuit Larry 2 was one of the best conspiracy theory games ever!!

fredmania 06-18-2007 05:24 PM

Thanks for all your help. Ive played all the games youve mentioned now and are desperately seeking more. Loved Gabriel Knight series!

Gonchi 06-18-2007 05:35 PM

How about Out of Order?

fredmania 06-18-2007 05:46 PM

Day of the Tentacle was great, but I have played it. How about Syberia? Is that any good.

aries323 06-19-2007 11:15 AM

You can try the demo for Beneath a Steel Sky and Lure of the Temptress.
You may download them from the revolution's site http://revolution.co.uk/

You may also enjoy the King's Quest, the Police Quest and the Space Quest games. You can actually get these three series in brandnew collection for each of the Quest releases ;) However, there is also a fanmade? re-make of
King's Quest 1-3 which sometimes is (far) better than the original ones, imo.

And there's a fanmade Broken Sword 2.5 out -- sort of a 2½ D game, I think.
Simon the sorcerer 1+2 is also fairly good games.

I feel like I'm aways correcting you ;) The demos are not available there.
However, you will find the full version of Lure and a link to scummvm.org where you'll find the full version of BASS.

Sorry, :frusty: I should hit with this :pan: as I'm very tired :Z today.
Just turned in an application and cv/resume for a new job :) --- so I'm totally  and :shifty: today. I'm glad you're correcting me, though :)
- especiallu this day, when I can't seem to remember that it is the full games (right?) that are available, not the demos...

Yes, definitely the full games. Those two have been freeware for a while now.

Stroggy 06-19-2007 01:00 PM

Though the humour is a bit childish, King's Quest VII and Torin's Passage do have cartoon graphics.

dhz 06-19-2007 03:01 PM

For what you've played and enjoyed, you should definitely play Syberia, great story and the graphics speak for themselves :)

Meche 06-19-2007 05:56 PM

Definitely the Sam & Max series - very well done and funny....also Martin Mystere comes to mind...good story;)

friarphil 06-19-2007 06:31 PM

How can I resist suggesting the Nick Bounty games.
cartoony, Funny, and a conspiracy about counterfeit crabs!

Ok, these games are short, but free! Should entertain you for a while!

Sierra's Heart of China was another early title that was pretty cool. Maybe not really cartoony graphics but more of photo realistic graphics. Looked really fantastic at that time.
