Default Pirate adventure heading to the Wii

Capcom has announced they're working on an exclusive Wii title called Treasure Island Z. The few screenshots posted seem to indicate a point 'n click interface, puzzles and treasures. So, doesn't that sound an awful lot like an adventure game?

And best of all, featuring pirates!

Yet another reason I should go out and buy a Wii. Do you still have to get at the store right when it opens and wait in line?

I met a guy over the weekend who was at the Capcom show, and got to play Treasure Island Z. He couldn't tell me much that hasn't already been announced, but said it was a whole lot of fun. It has been compared to Monkey Island because of the subject matter, but he said it's not really a funny game, just quirky, and definitely one to look forward to.

I just saw the new gameplay video, it looks like the franchise that could be the new Monkey Island.

I just saw this gameplay video: http://www.gametrailers.com/player.p...e=mov&id=18599

I haven't bought a Wii yet (I only recently acquired a PS2 and DS, so I already have lots of new games to try), but this might be the game that makes it worth it for me.

I saw that Gametrailers movie too; it was really nice. I'm looking forward to this title now. Especially the music sounded quite qualitative.

To be honest, I don't like the looks of that game and I don't see how it's comparable with Monkey Island. It doesn't even seem to be an adventure game! Was there some kind of hypnotize in those trailers which got you all to praise this as a very promising adventure? ( Just kidding)

Maybe it's just me ( for some reason videos loaded too slow for me and didn't bother to finish them), but it seemed very action-adventurish, like Zelda or even more like MArio bros games. Actually I didn't see many adventure elements there. Looky, you even collect gold there like in Marios.

Hopefully I'm proven wrong, but to me that game looks like crap.

The whole graphical style is way too kiddy. Going to put a lot of people off.

Unfortunately your right... they love that style over there...

In completely unrelated news I recently found that a favorite author of mine was releasing a graphic novel (Terry Brooks; The Dark Wraith of Shannara).

I was really excited until I found concept art and it was low quality anime looking crap.

Thats real friggin original.... Might as well release star wars using legos...oh... wait....

The three minute video of this game alone shows what a good match the Wii is for adventure games. And this game looks like the sort of original thing that the Wii needs right now.

Of course it's not going to be a pure, Western type adventure. Why should they? Really, why should developers adhere to some preconceived notion of what is or isn't a good way to create a game? It seems to me this title has looked really well at what the strengths of the Wii are and is trying to construct a good game around that, instead of shoehorning in awkwardly an existing playing style just for the sake of the playing style, instead of whether or not it will make it a better game.

Please get over your stubborn, restricted views of what a[n adventure] game should or shouldn't be; you're missing out on all the creativity and out-of-the-box thinking that's out there.

Sorry, but this Pirate game isn't western type adventure, but it isn't even an adventure game. What I see there is some platform like Super Mario Bros with some wii controller goodies with no adventure elements at all. I failed to see any.

With all the respect If you create a topic in adventure site in forum dedicated purely for adventure games about a new adventure game, you should expect critisism especially when this game isn't even an adventure game at all.

As a platform game, I'm sure it'll be good for those who likes the genre. But I don't see any way how this game can be judged as an adventure game. It's not about stubborness at all, but surely you understand this game has nothing to do with games we talk about here.
