I think that Scavenger Hunter would be great for a community playthrough .
Actually, I'd be quite up for In Memoriam/MISSING before it becomes unplayable. |

Not like them!

Are text adventures an option? I figure it ought to be easier to get a crowd for those, no? Y'know, considering they're often free.

I believe SCUMMVm should work just fine for this.

I would vote on Gabriel Knight 3 too. Have played the other ones. Started Gabriel Knight 3 but never finished it. I think this would be a fun way to get into the game again.

If it's Faust, I'd join.

Sanitarium, Gabriel Knight 3 and The Last Express all sound good to me. Faust as well if I knew somewhere to get it from other than CDAccess (I'd prefer not to have to make the choice of whether it should be my wallet or the game's packaging that gets eviscerated.) I'm not too familiar with underground adventures but this would probably be an opportunity for me to get into one so I'd be up for that too. I halfheartedly also suggest Broken Sword 1 and Quest for Glory 1 somehow also seems like good material for a playthrough but it would probably be completely unworkable unless a particular goal were set for each segment and that might just destroy the experience.

Are we allowed to bitch and complain to no end if we participate in the playthrough?

Not that I need that, since I had it on the N64 and now have it on one of those promotional GameCube discs. Mind you, there's also no way whatsoever that I have enough free time to play this kind of game to any sort of deadline. Sorry about that. |

Hmm.
I'd definitely love to play Sanitarium, that's for sure. GK2 and GK3 are also viable, with GK2 being preferred... however, the last time I played GK2 I had a devil of a time getting it to not crash frequently. Need to try it on my new computer, I guess. I own Tex Murphy: Overseer... need to play that at some point. I'd also put in a nomination for I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream... it's not freeware, but it is readily available from Ellison's own shop. I'd love an excuse to play my own copy I got as a present this past Christmas. Peace & Luv, Liz

I mentioned Amber: Journeys Beyond...
I only repeat it because that list might come in handy for future community playthroughs, too.

ive just finished gabriel knight 1, and i have the other two ready to go.
i'll put in a vote for gabriel knight 2, unless of course you guys think that playing them out of order wouldn't matter, in which case i'll vote for number 3 as well! |

I have never played Faust. It sounds good but I would need to track a copy down.
One that may be a good one for breaking up into sections, Laura Bow 2-Dagger of Amon-Ra. I only played that one once when it was new and would be willing to try it again. I would say 'no' to Missing/In Memorium at this point since when you do the searches in Google, a bunch of walkthroughs pop up instead of the real answer (well, it is there too but it is farther down the list). I also support the GK games I would also support the Last Express. I played it as a kid and never finished it. Now I am older and I think I could really get into that game now. Oh, I forgot, I've also got Myst 3: Exile, and I'm thinking of getting hold of Egypt three, don't know much about it though..

Hmm, Egypt 3 is at the computer store down the road from us. I vote for that too by virtue of availability. Faust sounds good too but there's no way we'd be able to get it at short notice.

I'm up for Full Throttle. (In fact I just bought the recently re-released copy along with Sam & Max, Grim Fandango, The Dig and Curse of Monkey Island.) I haven't played Full Throttle in years!
