PC Gamer: Adventure Game of the Year is...
Desperate Housewives
Runners Up: Sam & Max, Culture Shock, Bone: The Great Cow Race also, Sam & Max Episode 2 got a 81% and Murder on the Orient Express got a 71%. I always thought DH was an sims type game. |

Uh.. wow. It's nice that the two runners-up were actually adventure games.. I guess. I thought Desperate Housewives was a Sims type game too. Of course, maybe we're both way off here and it really is an adventure game - and better than all the rest that came out last year.

I've played Desperate Housewives, and there's nothing remotely "adventurey" about it.
Not to mention that it's not even worth paying for, (Which thankfully I didn't.)

Are we talking about the same PC gamer that raved about DOOM 3 when it came out?
PC gaming must be REALLY dead if Desperate House Wives is nominated for game of the year, let alone winning.

which PCGamer? US or UK one?
And btw...about Desperate Housewives. It's shame to see such talented developer as Liquid having to work on crappy licensed game to stay afloat. I just hope it will work, Cyberlore did the same with Playboy game(instead of working on Majesty2) and they still had to get out of gaming market Last edited by AdrianWerner; 01-27-2007 at 11:42 PM. |

I looked into this - for $9.95 its an OK game. The reviews of the game were mixed - some liked it and many considered it an adventure game. It's not really a sim game either - so its a hard one to find a home for really. The people who voted it Adventure Game of the Year really liked it and considered it an adventure game. Me? its OK for 9 dollars, more like a SIM game to me actually.

I'm with Mike Kelly. I bought Desperate Houswived for $10 and it was more entertaining than a movie. Lasted longer too ... finished it in a week.
It plays more like The Sims Stories than The Sims. You have acomplish goals that will move the story forward as well as take of your Sim's (sorry, character's) needs and her family's needs. Things like making them dinner and listening when they have problems. There were puzzles and mini-games involed that you might find in adventure games. I still feel that calling it an adventure game is streching the definition. Not a bad game, but Sam and Max and Bone were a LOT better. The game also felt cluncky with a lot of load times. After finshing it once I put it away in the 'never to be played again' pile. |

Just a thought but, you say you got this from another forum. Any particular reason for thinking the person that posted it wasn't just making it up? If they posted a link to the list as well that would be good.

Desperate Housewives was kind of like a mix between an adventure game and a simulation. I've played it and it was pretty fun actually. Still I think Sam and Max should have won.
