PS2 Adventure Games
Due to being a Mac junkie I tend to miss out on almost every adventure game released so I was exstatic when my brother picked up a PS2. I've already ordered Indigo Prophecy but I was wondering if you guys might suggest a few more? (Besides MI4)

The first, and so far only PS2 adventure I have, is Syberia. Like you, I'd love to know what more there is out there.
|
I was looking into getting Syberia but I can't find a place near me that carries it, I can't even get it on Amazon.
EDIT: Nevermind, Syberia wasn't released on the PS2 here in the US |
Look here.

Shame. It's absolutely worth playing. Same with the other titles from White Birds Productions. No idea what is released on PS2 though..
|
Shadow of Destiny by Konami is great. It's a time-travelling adventure in which you have to prevent your own death.
|
I bought that game once (used and really cheap), but the disc disappeared when I moved... Too bad.

If you can handle 'survivor-horror' style games there are quite a few games with adventure elements on the PS2. A good example of this is "Fatal Frame 3". These sell very well and I myself have 24 of them on my PS2 with the final one - Rule of Rose having a very interesting story. I use a gameshark to make the combat bearable and allow me to concentrate on the story - which is what I get these games for. :D |
Well, i kinda think the metal gear solid series are adventure too.
its very story driven. and if you like zelds, you should def get Okami ! God of war is adventure too, the travels, and the story.. Onimusha series had adventure elements.. and lets not forget : http://www.gamespot.com/ps/adventure...html?q=dragons If you can find this one, play it.. very cool.. |
Really good PS2 adventures:
Beyond Good & Evil Broken Sword: Sleeping Dragon Alone in the Dark 4: New Nightmare ICO Shadow of the Colossus Escape from Monkey Island Myst III: Exile Syberia I & II Okami |
:D
Amazingly, the PS2 STILL has TWO adventure games to be released! Coming is Febuary is an adventure game based on CSI and a survival adventure game from Agetic. :) |
And Chulip.
|
Syberia on PS2 is great, though it took me a while to get used to playing an point'n click adventure with a pad instead of a mouse. Didn't like the sequel as much though..
|
That was actually the entire reason why I bought Syberia on PS2 (which was my first game on PS2)... to get used to the gamepad. I figured, since I had already played the game on PC I could play a game that gave me time and opportunity to get the feel for the pad, and still complete the game.

It's amazing that the system still has MORE games to be released on it. Says alot for the PS2. History will be very kind to the PS2 and it's huge catalog of games. ;) |
It says a lot of the PS2, and its makers. And that we fortunately don't have to buy a new gaming console every so often. In my opinion the PS2 is great for adventure gaming (now that I am comfortable with its controls at least).

Here's a few:
Myst III: Works pretty well with the analog sticks, but I think it runs a bit slow. Silent Hill 2: Seriously, play this game on easy combat mode and hard puzzle mode, and it is a pure adventure game with one of the greatest stories ever. You'd do yourself a disservice, as an adventure fan, not to play this game. #3 is pretty good too, but I #2 is the greatest. Speaking of the PS2's, it is unfortunate that a system with such a huge library of games may not last too long...since the PS2's launch, I've gone through 3 of them (I took great care of them all). I took one of the broken one's apart...it is admittedly rather shoddily made, probably to keep costs down. I can still enjoy my SNES games because the system is so reliable, but unless Sony can fix their emulator problems on PS3, you might have trouble playing your library when your PS2 croaks. |
:)
With CSI: Dimensions of Murder AND Raw Danger coming out next week - we got even more adventures coming our way! The PS2 will be in production along time - I hear the new ones are very reliable. :D |
I love watching CSI on tv, so perhaps it's time to try it out on PS2 too.

Raw Danger is a survival adventure game that has you rescuing civilians after a huge flood. It is by: Agetec Inc. and has a US Release Date of February 20, 2007. It will be released as Disaster Report 2 in Japan on Feb 21st 2007. So - US gets it first! :D |
Really? I was under the impression that the game had been out in Japan for some time under the name of Zettatoshi 2, unless I am thinking of the Chinese release.
|
I recommend Rule of Rose. But since it is made by Atlus (who are known for releasing games in low quantities and are highly desirable by collectors)...prices may be a bit high.

I simply love "Rule of Rose" - I would have got a PS3 if it had developed the kind of library the PS2 had.
:D |
Some games not mentioned (sorry if they were & I've missed them!) are:
Glass Rose & Atlantis 3. Also SOS (is that the same as Disaster Report?) :) |
