I must be special then. As others have said before, Toonstruck CAN work on XP. I just followed Inferno's guide, and had no problems at all.

There are a few FMV games that will play on a DVD player:

POV

Tender Loving Care

Dracula Unleashed

To name just a few. Of course, they will play on a PC with DVD capability also.

Plays on XP, no problems here.

I ordered In Memorium but cancelled the order after reading many of the sites have been altered. Same with Spycraft.
You don't need to visit any websites to play Spycraft.
You do for In Memoriam, which is a totally different type of game.

Other good FMV games, may not be XP compatible:

Journeyman Project 2 and 3
Byzantine Betrayal
Dark Side of the Moon

Since you're asking, I will tell (this may not make much sense to non-norwegian-speaking people..). The word 'havrepus' was originally something one of the characters in the book that I am currently writing said to her dad once when she was a kid, about six or so. They were out in the woods, and she saw a hare (a 'harepus'). It was a simple mispronounciation that caused some laughter, and stuck. After I told some of my friends this they thought the name was kind of cool, so they started using it on me. And it stuck. So, there' s the story.

Yeah, Pandora Directive is the best but Under a Killing Moon shouldn't be missed if you haven't played it. I have the same fondness for FMV adventures, despite all it's flaws I loved Phantasmagoria 2, and many of the other games listed here.

Dracula Unleashed is one of the few FMV's I've finished. It's alright...

I'm really not a big fan of FMV's but I was fairly interested in that AGON spin-off AG mentioned a while ago, Something-or-other's Ring. Anyone know how that's coming along?

If you like violent cartoons, try out Braindead 13.

I loved those old FMV games. Not sure whether all these can be played on XP or not.

You can try all these

Foxhunt

Terror Trax

In the first degree

Starfleet academy if you are a trekkie.

Police Quest : SWAT

Wing Commander III

Wing Commander VI

Wing Commander V : Prophecy

The aforementioned ToonStruck

Point of View - is less of a game than a interactive movie

Tender Loving Care - the same as POV , more of a interactive movie than a game

Hardline

Eraser

Bad Mojo - although not so much of a FMV game

Flash Traffic

The X-file game

Supreme Warrior

Phantasmagoria 2

Phantasmagoria 1

Tex Murphy Overseer

Tex Murphy Pandora directive

A fork in the tale

Spycraft

Goosebumps - kiddie horror

Gabriel Knight 2 : The Beast within

Anyone?
Gabriel Knight II & the Tex Murphy games, most definitely.

IMO this is a lost art. If done well (I.E. GKII) it's stunning. And I think that the GK series owes its untimely end to damn 3D. I like 3D as much as anyone but it ruined lotsa great things. I.E. I miss the Broken Sword I & II interface....

Night Trap is more of an interactive movie than an adventure.

If you are looking for a similar game Double Switch is made by the same guy, and it's for Mega CD too...

Yumemi Mystery Mansion is also an adventure for the Mega CD....

Do you think the publishers would re-release some of these games? I would love to play Black Dahlia but realize it would be next to impossible to find. I think a compilation of FMV games might sell very well.

Could be... Dracula Unleashed and Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective were re-released on DVD a couple of years ago.
