i d say that setting and the way you interact with your buddy Spot reminds me of Torin's Passage, where your sidekick Boogle helps you along the way in different ways, one of them is also changing shape and appereance for different situations

I can field this: The release date is for German-speaking territories, international territories will have to wait until next year.

Thanks for your support and the encouraging words everyone!

The more I see of it, the more I can't wait to play it. There's something... in the art design... that makes me gently smile and shiver at the same time

Actually, it's only that the art design is simply amazing!

Indeed, if the art design looks any more awesome this might happen to me.

The game looks amazing!
I'm really happy it got a new publisher. It would've been a shame to see such a gem as this go to waste.

Great news, I can't wait. I'm expecting it to be out by next year though or would I be wrong?

Love the professional soundtrack, especially the ambient track on the main site. I sure hope to be able to download/ buy the soundtrack once the game is released.

So does anyone have any history on the game? There's not much on the actual site.

All I've heard is that it was created for a college project or something by a german (or was it french?) student and somehow ended up being made into a full game. Did the student sell it to them after contacting the company?
And I take it he has no hand to play in the game any more?

From the AG first look:
Quote:
The Whispered World started out as graphic artist Marco Hüllen’s graduation project, before it was later taken up by Bad Brain Entertainment, the self-styled publisher/developer that in the end was never meant to be. When BBE went out of business, the game was discontinued and offered to the community to continue as (and only as) a freeware adventure. But that clearly didn’t work either, as the project seemed practically dead until a trailer [in German] showed up on YouTube in April 2007.

The big surprise came just before the Games Convention: Daedalic Entertainment had acquired the material related to The Whispered World from Bad Brain founder Wolfgang Kierdorf and wasted no time in hiring the originator Marco Hüllen as well. And so the former graduation project became Daedalic’s second in-house project.
Can't wait for this and A New Beginning, both look great.

Ah thanks man. Interesting. So the original designer of the game is still responsible for the artwork?
