Question about latest Phoenix Wright. Does it have 4 actual cases plus a tutorial case, like the first one, or does it have 4 cases INCLUDING the tutorial case?

I already ordered it and it should arrive shortly, but I'm just curious how that adds up, because I saw it advertised as having 4 new cases, so... Let's hear it!

Well, I think it's pretty sure that it will get a western release, but I if I assume correctly, you are talking about english translation IN the japanese release. That remains to be seen.

about Gyakuten Saiban 4 ?

I searched internet, but no site have such information...
But, I guess Gyakuten Saiban 4 (in japanese) have
4 cases INCLUDING the tutorial case.

Because, I saw youtube demo gameplay,
(this demo was exhibited in Tokyo game show 2006)
and the demo include the first part of the story with some tutorials.

Justice for All only has four cases, tutorial included, like the original GBA version (and like the original Gyakuten Saiban before the DS rerelease as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney). However, they're longer than the first four cases in the first game.

So the cases in Justice for All are different than the GBA version?

Man all these versions are getting me confused

As usual when bringing a game to the US market from Japan, the game is slightly different.

But since this is GBA to DS, the cases are longer also.

We can expect more US conversions of the rest of the series also, they are a blast to play!

Okay, here's how it goes:

Gyakuten Saiban came out for GBA
Gyakuten Saiban 2 came out for GBA
Gyakuten Saiban 3 came out for GBA

Then, Gyakuten Saiban was remade for the DS with an extra case tacked onto the end and a revamped interface to allow for touch screen playing. The game was essentially untouched otherwise... the first four cases were identical in every way to the GBA ones, right down to the graphics. This was released in America as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

Gyakuten Saiban 2 got a DS remake a little over a year later, except this time without any added content. The only real difference between the DS version and the GBA version is the interface. This was released in America as Phoenix Wright: Justice for All.

Gyakuten Saiban 3 has not yet gotten a remake. If it does, it will most likely be similar to the other two remakes, being essentially the exact same game with the new DS interface added.

Gyakuten Saiban 4 has not yet come out for any system, but is nearing release for the DS. It was never on the GBA. It also stars a new defense attorney, not Phoenix, so should it come out in America it will most likely not carry the Phoenix Wright name.

I hope they release Gyakuten Saiban 3 remake for the DS this year!
(although no one knows if there is one)

Gyakuten Saiban 4 will probably be released in english, but not this year.
Case 5 from Phoenix Wright was great (the video analysis, the spray - great gameplay mechanics) so this one should have even more neat stuff.

And yes, I would definitely buy that collector's edition!!!

Yea - love the DS features in Phonex Wright - plays very well!

Hotel Dusk is out in a few days - I'm getting quite a backlog of DS adventure games waiting to be played!

The amount of hype Hotel Dusk is getting in general gaming forums is incredible.

Now let's see some more reviews.

Well... not me, I've already pre-ordered it

I can't wait to go and pick up Hotel Dusk tomorrow. It's beens so long since it was originally announced as Wish Room, eh? The kind folks at my local GameStop said they would hold me a copy, seeing as how they never took Pre Orders. I'm gonna finish up with Trace Memory one more time, then curl up into the fetal position until tomorrow.

... but first I'm gonna have a Taco.

Go Nintendo's review for Hotel Dusk (9.2):

http://gonintendo.com/?p=12083

Apparently it's one of the best adventure games to come around in about 10 years. I think I'm gonna wait a little longer since I just spent such and such amount of money for the DS and games, but I'm sure I will be getting it soon.

Interesting thing about Hotel Dusk... it does have standard adventure game puzzles, but most of the puzzles involve dialog.

You cannot talk to characters over and over and over and over again to explore every part of the dialog tree. They will get annoyed, complain to the manager and you will be kicked out. You can screw yourself over (the game will inform you if you've done this) by getting caught in a lie and not being able to talk your way out of it. You can make things easy or hard for yourself depending on how you treat other people and the things you say, and they have very real consequences.

Basically, if you're getting this hoping for lever puzzles, I'd recommend giving it a second thought. If you're more interested in character interaction, jump right on in. Personally I'm loving it.
