I actually played a Nancy Drew PC game - quite good actually.

Main difference is: 1st-Person vs Third Person.

Pc is 1st-Person and DS is Third Person.

The DS version does use the stylus to move around and control the game
too.

Generally speaking, a much better converstion than the Nancy Drew GBA game done years before. This game is quite fun and has been designed for the DS from the ground up.

So - if you like one you will like the other. Mainly a difference in hardware (DS vs PC) than anything else.

Nice to know that has long as we have Nancy we will have good quality fun adventure games!

Random news for DS adventure fans: this forum has added some new default avatars to choose from... including 10 characters from DS adventures (5 from the Ace Attorney series).

I made them, so I'm proud.

This might be a stupid question, I recognise the Phoenix Wright characters, Hotel Dusk, Touch Detective and Another Code. But from what game are the two characters in the lower middle?

Right you are, Professor Layton it is. Is that the game which has only been released in Japan or am I confusing it with something else?

It's actually getting a N. American release this December. There is a second Professor Layton game out in Japan now.

If anyone is interested in Undercover Dual Motives: you don't have to wait for the international release. As long as you don't mind the manual being in German, you can go ahead and buy it (it's called Undercover Doppeltes Spiel over there). If your DS is set to English, the entire game will be in English.

Has anyone gotten to try out Professor Layton? From what I've heard, it sounds more like a collection of riddles and puzzles than a real adventure game. Then again, it's a fine line

Also, I know many adventure gamers aren't into this type of thing, but the new Zelda for DS is out, and it'd very good. The stylus-based controls give it a much more "adventurey" feel than most Zelda games, although it's still clearly action-based.

I'd be surprised if XXJ can't tell us more about it. I found I was tracking this at gamespot, and I had completely forgotten what it was.

This is Japanese detective suspense adventure game.

well...actually...
At 2007/4/6,xiguo asked about this game in this thread.
And I answered.

However...I was at a loss for telling the information about this game in this thread any further...sorry.
Because, last month I went Tokyo game show2007 and asked Tecmo staff whether Tecmo planning to sell this game other than Japan.
And Tecmo staff said that they are not planning to sell this game outside japan, because Kyotaro Nishimura isn't famous mystery writer othe than Japan...

If you want to see the picture of This game in Tokyo game show 2007.
I posted "Gaming News and Rumours" thread about it.

It's such a shame that not all games get global releases. I understand the marketing is impractical and it's often too great a risk financially but it's still frustrating.

Thanks for all the updates by the way! The DS is excellent, so it's always great to hear about any new adventure games on the horizon!

Because they're so text-heavy (even more so than American ones), Japanese Adventure Games very rarely get English releases. While there have been several notable exceptions on the DS, I wouldn't get your hopes up for most of them... you're better off not thinking about them, and then being pleasantly surprised when one does get translated
